Staff were super nice but communicating lacked like they preferences were to stay back of the dinning room rather than greeting to people and so on..

Rooms were near an old Campanone(church bell)
And it was a little disturbing specially when you wanted to sleep at the moment also room's floor was creaking too much.

Monotonne sniadania, codziennie przez 5 dni dokladnie to samo. Brak cieplych posilkow na sniadanie, ani kielbasek, ani jajecznicy, nic z takich rzeczy.
Jest kawa z ekspresu.

-matériaux vieillissant
-sur facturation d’option (même si vous ne les utilisez pas)

NOTHING HORRIBLE!! DONT STAY!! WE ABANDONED OUR RESERVATION AND NOW BOOKING.COM IS IGNORING US.

My message to customer service

Dear Customer Service , thank you to attending our request concerning the historic Steinbach hotel. We had an appalling experience after contactingbooking.com because we trusted you as we are traveling in a foreign country for Friday, July 24 when we arrived. We booked the hotel on July 20 through your booking service the photos and description were very misleading and deceptive. On the day of the booking we received an email to pay $10 for parking. We paid the $10 and arrived. Another email was sent to pay $100 to enter into the front door which was locked with a keypad and a camera. It was very sketchy. We were not about to pay $100 to enter into the door without a receptionist. Finally, someone came on the camera and opened the door. There was no one present at reception it was self service. The keys to each room were all locked in a box . Because of our bad cell service we were unable to get a response and no one was there to check us in it was self serve check in which was NOT explained. we call from the phone at the front desk and the women on the line was extremely rude !! there were other 3 other couples trying to check in and having the same difficulty ( LOOK AT THE CAMERA FOOTAGE July 24th) we looked upstairs there was NO ELECTRICTY in the hall. it was very creepy we felt very unsafe and decided not to stay. Other people left as well. We met Guests that said they made a Hugh mistake by booking this hotel. WE want a refund. I called London twice to booking.com and both times they hung up on me.

Check-in is completely online, which takes some effort, and you also have to pay a CHF 100 deposit.
It was not easy to open the room door due to some issues with the door lock and the key.
There is no AC, so we had to sleep with the window open. Our room faced the river, which was quite noisy. This might be a problem for light sleepers, although it wasn't an issue for us.
Breakfast is simple and nothing special.

The staff didn’t really acknowledge the guests (mainly due to the self check in I think). Also it’s quite dated inside and the rooms could do with being renovated a bit, but we knew that when we booked. Overall this wouldn’t stop me from booking again. I think I’d stay there again if I went back to Wilderswil for the convenience alone.

Das Bett war für mich sehr weich aber nicht durchgelegen. Eine große Bettdecke für zwei Personen fand ich nicht so toll. Zimmer mit Bergblick hört sich toll an. Wenn der Berg aber zwei Meter entfernt vom Fenster anfängt und man im Souterrain wohnt ist das ein Scherz.100sfr. Kaution ist im voraus zu leisten obwohl das ganze Zimmer schon bezahlt war fand ich auch recht ungewöhnlich.

Cold response to requests/ hospitality!
No fan (or AC) in room which makes it very difficult to rest in the afternoon!
Opening windows lure flies in the room!
Staff enters your room (in our absence, to change dustbin bags) no matter you’ve asked or not- strange thing which i never encountered anywhere! They wont change your used glasses and spoons (cutlery) for that matter! And no in-person reception staff (unless over call) to raise concerns to!
Same breakfast everyday- so might not be good option for guests staying for over 1-2 days!
