Hotel Girassol - Suite Hotel

Building work 10 meters from the adult pool. Continuous noise could not relax. Misinformation from Jet2. Was told it was a carpark 100meters from the hotel. If you want a relaxing pool holiday avoid at the moment!!

Stayed here for a week! Highly recommended, check in was easy, and pleasant experience. Room on the 9th floor with a sea view. Room was clean and spacious, bathroom was clean. Pool towels available, Rooms cleaned daily, fresh towels. Mini fridge, kettle, tv, hairdryer in the room. Breakfast was good, plenty of choices of food, did get busy at times, but plenty of seating!. We didn't have any other meals at the hotel, but can highly recommend indian Palace for an Indian meal, which was less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel, can also recommend sabores d'italia for an Italian meal, they were also serving sushi, which looked good, but we didn't try it, 5 minutes walk from the hotel. We also had a meal at restaurante bernini, which was about 20 minutes walk from the hotel.
Funchal centre was about 30 minutes walk from the hotel, or plenty of buses! Highly recommend the west tour of the island, the cable cars, toboggan, and monte Palace gardens, Plenty to see and do, lovely walk to camera de lobos along the promenade , which was flat, took about an hour and a half. Plenty to see and do, brilliant location, plenty buses, taxis, and things to see and do. Hole in one bar, just up the road, a lovely bar for food and snacks!

This is lovely hotel enjoyed by all the family. It is friendly and relaxed with welcoming. Reception staff. Located 1 mile from Funchal marina and old town it is a short bus ride (very frequent bus stop 2 min walk away) or a leisurely downhill walk. Recommend to visit to the stunning Camara De Lobos which is also accessible via the No1 bus route. It also has lots of restaurants and a very good supermarket (Pingo Doce) all within walking distance so you don’t have to travel far for a good dinner. Excellent breakfast facilities with a quiet bar next to the swimming pool. We used the family swimming pool and adjoining gardens which are very family friendly. The room was a good size with balcony and excellent bathroom facilities. We also found the hotel and Funchal to be good value for money. We would recommend Hotel Girassol and a trip to Madeira. It is a fabulous place.

Great hotel in a central location with good facilities and great food in the restaurant. Rooms are clean and spacious and staff are polite and attentive.

Fabulous hotel central to everything, hotel staff really friendly and attentive especially Debora on reception who is so helpful, we stayed B&B and if you want to take buffet lunch it’s €20 which includes a drink and a tea/coffee lots of choice on buffet, hotel and pool areas spotless and we liked they have an adults only pool with such comfy loungers and free pool towels, beds really comfy and being a suite nice having a separate seating area and cleaning ladies came in every day, we had such a relaxing time in this hotel highly recommend and we will be back thanks for a lovely stay ☺️

What an amazing stay at this fantastic hotel. Everything about our visit was on the button.
The pool area was great with enough sunbeds, brollies and space. The bar at the pool was manned fully with nothing being too much trouble for any of the staff. The all inclusive snacks were top drawer as were the toasties etc available to order.
Meals in the main dining room were excellent, not the run of the mill, lots of choice but low standards type of kitchen. The chefs involved with the day to day running need a big pat on the back for keeping the standards high throughout mealtimes, as do the front of house staff keeping everything going throughout the meal....
The rooms were looked after very well once again with nothing being too much trouble.
We will be back....

My daughter and I had an amazing experience in Madeira. Stayed in this amazingly clean hotel, food was great, always plenty of choices. Real food, home style cooking- never tasted a bad dish- it was superb. Hotel staff was super welcoming, some went above and beyond for us. And for my usually grumpy teenager this was the first holiday she didnt want to go home from. She entertained the staff and guests with some of her piano playing skills- was overjoyed to find TWO grand pianos in the building. Location wise- super easy to get everywhere, excursion pick ups easy also. We had an amazing time at Girassol and if we ever go back to Madeira, which we probably will, as we fell in love with the place- Girassol will be a place to stay for us. Loved our time.Room was lovely and we were on a bed and breakfast board.The food was also lovely.We would definetly go back there again.

We found the hotel ideally situated. The food was lovely. We stayed all inclusive, which could not be faulted. The restaurant manager was very attentive and always welcomed us. A credit to the hotel. The hotel had everything we needed, our room was very comfortable and large. The quality of the drinks was good. We will definitely be back again to stay in your lovely hotel. Lovely holiday spent at the Girassol, good food and plenty to chose from, good rooms and nice friendly staff, will go back sometime in the future

We have stayed in this hotel 6 times now. Great location with easy walk into Funchal and plenty of bars and restaurants around it. The staff are friendly and helpful. As it is a suites Hotel there is a spacious sitting room and bedroom with plenty of storage space. Rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. There are a couple of bars onsite with live entertainment some nights, also a pool bar at daytime. The 2 pools are well kept with comfortable loungers and towels provided. We only do bed and breakfast but there are all inclusive options, breakfast has a great selection from full cooked to continental and pastries. Good value and nice atmosphere.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Girassol. From the moment I arrived the reception staff were friendly and helpful. My room was spotless and inviting. The food from breakfast through to dinner was excellent. The vegetable lasagne was outstanding. The chef was always available to have a chat, and advising on red wine. Pool towels were always available. Lunch was buffet by the pool with good seating staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a good hotel with friendly helpful staff
Looking to book next year, unfortunately the Superior Suites have all been booked, still I believe the Junior Suite will be just as good

Excellent holiday staff were very helpful and always address customers with good morning or afternoon
Restaurants were very cleaned although evening meal was limited selection food very very nice
Hotel rooms very good and cleaned every day

My 6th year staying at Hotel Girassol. I always get a warm welcome at reception. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The food is of a very high standard. The hotel is well located for Funchal , public transport shops and restaurants all close. As a solo traveller I do tend to return to my room early in the evening so appreciate a TV with English channels, this has always been provided and very much appreciated. All the staff , dining room , bar, pool, reception and room are all very friendly and helpful. 2 pools 1 heated and plenty of sun beds. I will be returning next year God willing.

Still here ( 05 - 07 /12 - 07 in room 410 ) All Inclusive.
A very good hotel. Rooms are spacious & clean. Room 410 is a suite. Coffee / tea making facilities. Good sized fridge. TV / radio. Room cleaned daily and towels changed whenever you like.
Restaurant is large with good seating & tables. The food is delicious & there is always a very good choice. There are a number of pools which are spotlessly clean. 1 is adults only which is nice. The garden areas are well kept & pleasent to sit in. The bars are good & no queuing. The drinks are good.
The hotel is well situated with plenty of eateries & bars to go to.
The staff are very friendly & helpful.
I would recommend this hotel without a doubt.

Nice enough hotel which was perfect for our requirements, and a great location.
Rooms were clean and comfortable although the carpet in the corridors outside the rooms were old and stained.
We found it a bit odd when we checked in after flying in, and wanted to find somewhere nice for lunch that the lady on reception told us there are no good places to eat in Funchal and it was recommended that we head into another town. Every meal out we had in Funchal was great, so we found this a bit strange and unhelpful!

This hotel was ideally situated for us. Locally, we walked everywhere and had no need to use public transport. We received a warm welcome and all the staff we encountered were polite and friendly. Our suite was clean, comfortable and spacious. We were particularly impressed that we had a room at the front of the hotel on one of the higher floors. We really enjoyed relaxing and taking in the views from our balcony. The breakfasts provided were plentiful and there was plenty of choice. We weren’t disappointed by any of the choices we made. Breakfast items were replenished promptly and the buffet areas kept clean and tidy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend a stay at this hotel. The only negative issue would be that the bathroom would be better if it was upgraded to just a shower cubicle instead of a shower over a bath. This, however, didn’t impact on our stay but is a personal preference.

We’ve had an absolutely lovely time at this hotel. We have no complaints. It’s in a fantastic location, quiet peaceful area. Our room was a good size and it was cleaned everyday. No complaints with the food, always a decent amount of options and always enjoyable. The staff were great especially the pool/bar staff and the dinner staff. We found the night time manager to be a lot more approachable than the day time. However it the effort made to get everyone on the roof for the fireworks was really nice. We will definitely be returning and are already looking forward to coming back. Thank you for a lovely stay.
