This is a real gem of a hotel. Whilst the town isn't the prettiest of towns it is a great location to visit loads of fantastic sites over the region. The rooms are not as large as other hotels but the public spaces are lovely. The staff are great and the food is excellent.
It is a Townhouse so don't expect great views from your bedroom. The hotel though is beautiful and has a lovely sitting out area.
It was a beautiful place, with charm, antique furniture, great bar and breakfast.
The room was very tight. We barely had room for our luggage.
I requested for an early check in to allow me dress up and attend a function that started at 2pm and this was houred, My room was ready when I arrived at about 1pm
I am not sure if the price is comparable with other boutique hotels in Droghedaq but I thought it was on the high side for a small town
Great location and all the staff we spoke to were very nice
Nothing
Location
Smallest bedroom and shower I’ve ever seen. Room barely big enough for the bed. Toilet also tiny
My wife has mobility issues and there were lifts from car park to Reception and from Reception to first floor where our room was. Good to see! Really good breakfast choices.
There was a leak in the en suite which caused a puddle on the floor. This was reported and we were assured it would be repaired, it didn’t spoil our stay.
Nettes Personal
sehr gutes Dinner
Zimmer sehr, sehr eng
Lastenaufzug als Lift
Lovely hotel
Friendly staff
Great location
Room a bit small I’m a big lady
No tea making facilities although staff bring tea to room
One of the nicest places we stayed. The rooms were beautiful and dinner was excellent.
Absolutely nothing.
The heritage aspect. The dining room and bar were beautiful.
The rooms are a bit rundown but not too bad.
Lovely location, free parking and very walkable.
The place takes you back to the 19th century decor wise and the rooms/beds are exceptional comfortable. Despite that nothing is dated. The breakfast is a la carte and not the usual buffet - I recommend the porridge and fruit as it it was a battery pack that kept us going til 2 or 3. The location is great for visiting newgrange, mellifont abbey etc as well as the Boyne valley and a short walk or taxi from the train station. The staff really made us feel welcome and looked after and the kitchen deserves a special mention - the food was exceptional.
One gripe which is a bit part and parcel of boutique hotels is that the showers in both rooms had technical issues (broken on off switch and a random loss of pressure). It was a bit annoying that we reported them on the first day but it seems that nothing was going to be done to fix the issues. The fact I still rate the place so well is because on every other point it is an exceptional place to stay with exceptionally friendly staff.
Consistently great. We have stayed in Scholars a number of times now and we cannot fault anything. A particularly lovely room this time complete with Four Poster bed. We have already booked our next stay!
Loved everything (as usual!)
Beautiful building
No kettle in room but complementary tea/coffe can be ordered at reception
Quirky and historic
Nothing
