Pros:

Super gîte à Deal. Idéalement placé face a la mer dans une bâtisse d’époque. Pour moi il n’y a pas meilleur hôtel dans cette ville côtière

Pros:

Lovely big room.
Friendly helpful staff.
View of the pier .
Very comfortable stay.

Cons:

The early morning traffic and bin men . The hotel is on a busy road so traffic noise is to be expected and the bins need emptying.
Unfortunately the lift was out of order .

A pleasant stay
Pros:

We stayed for 2 nights. The family room was clean and spacious. We were not in a sea facing room and unfortunately there was a lot of noise from the road. One of the windows in the room didn’t close properly which made it worse although it cooled the room down during the night. For breakfast on the first morning I ordered pancakes with fruit and Greek yogurt but when it arrived there was no yogurt on it. I asked the waitress why there was no yogurt on and she told me quite abruptly it didn’t come with yogurt. I looked at the menu after breakfast and showed it to another staff member who confirmed it did come with yogurt. We had dinner in the restaurant that evening and I ordered Lobster Thermidor which was over cooked and tough. Breakfast the next day was good and there was yogurt. All other staff members were pleasant and helpful.

An excellent place to stay for a short visit
Pros:

Location on the seafront was ideal and the service at breakfast was excellent.
Reception was friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Room was very small and had very limited hanging space and storage for clothes.
The toilet paper was the flimsiest ever and the toilet seat was thin and unstable.

Lovely room, great hotel. Nice staff. Relaxed and not stuffy.
Pros:

It’s an iconic hotel, a landmark in Deal. Prime position and bags of old school charm.

Cons:

Nothing really. The only thing that made me laugh a bit was the rather minimalist breakfast buffet. But the breakfast menu made up for it.

Absolutely fantastic. - But not Mondays.
Pros:

Great hotel, fab location, big clean rooms, welcoming staff, lovely food. All was well until 6am Tuesday morning. Then all hell breaks loose. At 6am Shepherd Neame's business waste contractor turns up. The hotel has a number of regular wheelie bins and six giant green commercial waste bins stored along the side of the hotel. Without a care for those around the contractor wheels to a magnificent thunder all these bins out across the end of the hotel, over the pavement to the pavement to their truck, when you then get the moan of machinery's hydraulics and clatter of all the bins being emptied one after another before the thunderous wheeling of them back into store. It is way way more than enough to wake the dead, particularly on a warm night. Just to rub it in further the contractor's operatives think it is fine to be yelling to each other over the noise of the machinery and bins. How the neighbours cope with this week on week I do not know. It is so inconsiderate. I would not want to live nearby.
If Shepherd Neame had any sense, for all their locations they would put in a clause in their waste contract forbidding the bins to be emptied between 9.30pm and 7.30 am. I know the road is busy in the day but the bins could easily be emptied early evening.
9/10ths of a fantastic stay wrecked by one stupid and inconsiderate contractor.

Great stay and would stay again. Great room with a view and an excellent location.
Pros:

Great location. Good breakfast included and a good room with a view of the pier.

Cons:

Car parking was costly but I accept it’s hardly the hotels issue, just a shame there’s no allocated parking but not the end of the world.

Perfect weekend by the sea
Pros:

We stayed at the Royal Hotel over the weekend and I couldn't have asked for more. Room was incredibly spacious, clean and perfect for a weekend with children by the sea. We had dinner in the pub in the evening and the kids absolutely loved their meal and then breakfast in the morning was great. Highly recommend and will stay again.
