Return of Archer!
Pros:

Great location on King St, Old Town in Alexandria. Just two blocks from Metro makes it very convenient to reach DCA, city, etc. The hotel has the boutique charm with friendly staff. Rooms are well appointed. I have stayed at this hotel almost 20+ times when it was the Lorien/Kimpton. Sadly when it was IHG, it decreased its likeability. I am glad to see its regained its charm under Archer.

Not as Expected, Would Not Recommend
Pros:

After reading all of the great reviews, we were excited to enjoy a weekend in Old Town with a great space, balcony and boutique-feel hotel. We were disappointed. Gave it a 3 stars because there were some good aspects, but we would not return.

Always start with the positives: The staff is attentive and cheery and tried to make our stay a good one, despite us not getting the type of room we were booking. The lobby and lounge are welcoming and a nice place to hang out. The adjacent restaurants are very good (not owned by hotel, but right there) and servers are excellent. The gym has all you need.

The Negatives: Valet parking is genuinely awful. It is billed as "24 hour access" and technically, it is, but we waited a half hour every time for one overworked gentleman to get all the cars at peak hours (hire an additional for peak hours). The area is not the best. We had a couple of negative encounters with individuals on the streets right outside the property and non-guests definitely were sitting/laying on the benches in the front area, one swearing and yelling at guests. Felt uncomfortable and not what we expected. The courtyard, part of the property, often had random people come sitting there and saw someone come in off the streets to get coffee from lobby. Didn't feel particularly secure.

Biggest issue for us was there was a miscommunication when booking our room and we did not get what we asked for and it impacted our entire stay. Our room was a "suite" but we fully expected, based on our conversation to get a balcony and spacious room. There was no space at all if sofa bed was open. We had a view of dumpsters (and noise from them being unloading) and some of the furniture and the vanity had stains. We booked based on the pictures and expectation of a spacious room with a balcony. We specifically asked for this and ended up with an overpriced, oddly shaped (not useful space) room with no balcony and a view of dumpsters. We were given a modest discount, but we were not happy at all. Also, random and odd - no top sheets were on bed and for pull out we had to ask for bedding and were given a bottom sheet and one blanket. Never seen that before!

Would Stay Again
Pros:

We had a lovely stay at the Archer Hotel. We were in town for a graduation and enjoyed how convenient it was to everything we needed. The hotel staff were very friendly. I liked the refreshing spa water served daily in the lobby.
Our room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed the use of the outside courtyard space where we had food & beverages from the restaurant and played cards. The cocktails at the restaurant on site were amazing, but pricey. Our family enjoyed the breakfast of the Home-Grown restaurant on the property and said it was delicious.
The hotel is walking distance from the Metro. We took the Metro from Reagan International airport to the train stop and then walked with our luggage to the hotel. It was very easy to do.
We would definitely stay at the Archer again if in the Alexandria VA area.

EVERYTHING. Where do I start? The rooms are gorgeous with the sweetest little touches like books in the room & complimentary water. The location is fantastic. The front desk attendants Isabel and Elham were soo kind and wonderful. I stayed with my family on my birthday and they made sure to make it so special. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back.

Perfect Home Base in DC
Pros:

My husband and I visited Old Town, Alexandria, for the first time in four years. Before our courtship and marriage, I had lived in Old Town from 2012 to 2014. This year, our goal was to connect with friends and hit up some of the new galleries and museums. The Archer Hotel was the perfect home base, steps away from the King St Metro. The Archer was ideal because of its convenient location and amenities. We enjoyed the walkability, the restaurant and bar, and the outdoor firepit. Sophia at the front desk made our time a pleasure, filling us with treats and taking cheerful action whenever we made a request. The Archer was a peaceful, clean haven to recharge after busy days in DC. Each morning, we were ready to strike out again with alacrity to see our friends and experience DC. The Archer Hotel helped step into America's Semiquincentennial Celebrations and the wonders of DC.

Surprise one night stay
Pros:

Spent an unexpected night here when my flight was cancelled at Regan.

We weren't here for very long, so my experience was limited, but what we did experience was solid enough.

Comfortable rooms and beds. Hotel was busy with a wedding, so lobby was lively but we still had a quiet night's sleep.

They weren't able to get us connecting rooms, but it was late notice, so hard to blame them for that.

TV interfaces at hotels are always oddly bad, but this one was especially lousy. Strange detail I realize.

Valet was nice but a bit clueless, with a bit of a communication gap.

An Amazing Stay for a Short Get Away ❤️
Pros:

My fiancé had a training in Old Town Alexandria, and we opted to stay at The Archer for a cozy, intimate getaway. The staff here is amazing, super accommodating, discreet, and kind. They always try to accommodate their guests and fulfill requests whenever possible.

The hotel staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They greeted me almost every time I left and returned, which was often while exploring the area. They answered any questions we had about the town and surrounding attractions and were especially helpful in finding parking in the middle of the city, even off-site!

The rooms were clean, well appointed, and featured adjustable heating and cooling. We also had a nice little view of the city. The bed is incredibly soft and cool at first, though it warms up quickly once you settle in. The pillows are very plush with goose feathers, so if you prefer a firmer pillow, you may want to request an extra one. The room-darkening curtains are excellent for keeping the room cool and blocking out the sun.

The service and food at HomeGrown are fantastic, and everything we tried was delicious. AKB is also a great option for dinner, drinks, or a quick bite on the go.

The room amenities are top-tier as well. The slippers are comfortable, the robes are soft, clean, and cozy, and the shower gets wonderfully hot perfect for relaxing and refreshing after a long day.

The room rates were right up our alley, and in my opinion, you get a luxurious stay for a steal, especially with a lion-claw tub!
