Avalon Airport Hotel Thessaloniki

The hotel and staff were great, in this rather 'middle of nowhere' hotel.
The Hotel is a little out-in-the-sticks but the hotel bus collected us promptly from the airport and delivered us back quickly and efficiently as part of the service. The hotel was clean and well presented, the room and bed very comfy and the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. We arrived very late at night not expecting to be served food, but the barman gave us the menu and said it wasn't too late. We weren't expecting too much, given the lateness and scarcity of staff at that hour but the food was really very good and just what we needed. The pool was closed since it was end of summer season, which didn't matter to us. A really good experience after a long journey and high praise for the wonderful staff who really took care of us on our short stay. Highly recommended.

The hotel is very well kept, and the quality shows. Rooms were excellent. Also, the complimentary breakfast was very good quality. Staff was very courteous. The restaurant had top food choices and prices were extremely reasonable. The vegetarian food we had was excellent. Felt sad leaving the beautiful hotel.

There was a stuff reaction which ruined my stay. The kettle in my room was broken - it was working on and off so the reception kindly promised my wife a new one. Two ladies came with old kettle and new kettle and all would be find but alas! despite my wife protests entered the room to have a discussion although I was lying semi naked on the bed! They sam me and did not brother and stayed on. I had to tell them to leave very firmly. These two Avalon personnel ladies were not trained properly - you should never enter the room and embarrass your customer (naked, bathing etc). If you do so by error you should go back immediately to show your appreciation of culture and tact. To stay in the room in such circumstances may humiliate the customer. I felt very bad psychologically because of it. Above all the kettles quality on the rooms seems rather poor - this is how the problem starts. Avalon should improve skills of some of their stuff.

Beautiful hotel very close to the airport. The rooms are spacious as is the bathroom, at least for European standards. They have a great pool area and a large restaurant with a good selection of dishes. The dishes I have tried were very good. They offer a free shuttle service to and from the airport.

I stayed at the AVALON for one night in June 2025. Overall, it was ok, or shall we say adequate; however, its appearance is a little rundown in certain areas, especially around the pool. I arrived at 7 pm and was immediately ambushed by a gardener with a noisy weed wacker working right by diners in the pool's patio area. You would think they'd schedule work like that during less busy hours when it's less intrusive, but hey - this is Greece after all. Staff are reasonably friendly, and their shuttle service to the airport worked flawlessly, but if you have an early departure and do not have time to stay for breakfast at the hotel, don't bother asking for their "to-go" bag. It sounds like a nice gesture, but it is beyond embarrassing and sad. Just take a look at the attached image and you will know what I mean.

Bed was not made - flat sheets were on the bed. Comforters in the closet. Not very welcoming.

Airport transportation was flawless. About 10 minutes from the airport.

Breakfast ok -decent choices. Early airport departure meant we could not linger or get a quick coffee.

Wouldn’t stay again

Great service, very kind staff willing to accommodate individual needs when possible. Some older furnishings, but comfortable and clean.

Good place for relaxation with very good breakfast

Everything was ok..one mention: the thub bath had NO dop (stopper water)..I had to improvise..
