Great views, great location, wonderful relaxing areas overlooking the fjords. Excellent option in Geiranger!!!
The room was way below standard, booked fjord view, had trees in front of our balcony Nice...
Smokers outside our balcony, felt like Spain back in 1998
Bartender did not know how to mix a Negroni which tells me they have 0 training
Reception had no interest on your stay
Overall bad experience, don't book
Our first impression of the hotel was positive as it is well located and the trainee receptionist was pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, although the fittings had seen better days, and we were satisfied with this.
The first problem came when we asked about charging our car. The hotel website advertises charging facilities - and this was one of the reasons we chose this hotel - yet this was non existant and we were directed to nearby public chargers which were in use all the time.
Our biggest disappointment with this hotel came at breakfast. First when we chose a table a hotel employee somewhat rudely told us to get out of the area an find a seat elsewhere. It seems the hotel segregates guests and other "private" diners. Finding a table was difficult as the kitchen staff did not clear the tables and several guests were eating their breakfast surrounded by dirty dishes from earlier diners. Where there was space to sit the tables themselves were dirty and we had to clean some spilt yoghurt with serviettes before going for some food. Next, the supposedly hot food was so cold that it could not be eaten. The friit juice was good but otherwise the choice of food available was not up to the standard of other hotels in Norway. When we tried to get help the kitchen staff were uninterested and not inclined to help.
At check out the receptionist took our key with only one word : "ok" The usual greeting, enquiry about our stay and thank you was absent.
For the price that this hotel charges they should be offerring a better experience for their guests than we had.
We enjoyed coffee at the cafe in the front of the hotel. I saw a sign about a gift shop/ gallery so I asked and I’m glad I did. It was a great collection of local artists. In looking for the gift shop I got to explore the hotel, especially the new section and I wished we needed a hotel as I’d love to stay there ( but we were on a cruise!)
The Fjord is stunning. The hotel rooms view its majesty.Swimming is just a few steps away .You can warm up in outdoor sauna. The lapping of water rocked.me to sleep like a lullaby. Will return
We had an upgrade to a room in the new park of the hotel overlooking the fjord which was fabulous
The staff were very pleasant and the location was lovely
We stayed 2 nights at Havila. The room window faced the road, the beds were not very comfortable, the room didnt have coffee making facilities [we knew that when booking] and the water didnt drain well in the shower and we had to always step into a puddle of cold water when getting into the shower. The washroom has plastic disposable cups! Very odd for a hotel in Scandinavia! We paid NOK 7400 for 2 nights. The same price for other hotels which has a coffee maker, comfy beds and glasses in the washroom!
On the 2nd day when we returned to room [703] at 3 PM, it had not yet been cleaned, and I was unable to take a bath due to the lack of clean towels. I reported the issue to the Admin office, as the receptionist earlier in the day had seemed indifferent when I mentioned the water retention problem.
The Admin staff promptly brought in a maintenance technician to assess the situation. After confirming the issue, they relocated us to a room in the new wing with a fjord view, which was better equipped with a stellar view!
A very good hotel, with a beautiful view of the fjord from our balcony. Food at breakfast and dinner was excellent. Our room was well equipped and clean.
Room would be much more comfortable if it had a mini fridge and an AC as it was hot in July and most of the residends were asking for fans.We were lucky to have the last one available.
The basics for a Hotel room-clean, comfortable bed and hot shower.
What a terrible Hotel. Run down, tired, sticky floors like a pub floor. But mostly, in the morning we discovered our room 802 only had a bath, no shower and no exhaust fan/ventilation in the bathroom. Admittedly it had a hand held spray but this didn’t extend very far and had no wall bracket. This is not a shower.
Why would a room (802) not have a shower facility in this day and age?
Why would the Hotel consider leasing out this room, then offer a room change?
How does a woman wash her hair in a bath one handed? How does a 191 cm man wash in a bath?
There appears a stark variation between the rooms in standards. Some appear lovely while others are really basic.
Really disappointed in our small group tour company for using this chain offer.
One of our two night stays! A room change was offered the next morning but that would have held up the group departure and as we had unpacked for two nights, defeated the benefits of a multi night stay.
Without request or permission, someone attended our room while we were absent during the day and repaired the extension hand nozzle and left it curled in the bottom of the bath, toiletries spilt into the bath and dirty.. Still not a shower!
With 150 rooms and one elevator, stairs are the best form of moving between floors and the stair wells are disgusting.
If we were solo travellers a full refund would be sought and we would relocate elsewhere. But being in a travel group, we get whatever room is issued.
All reported to the front desk, but still not certain they fully comprehend.
Excellent hotel. Breakfast was good and the laundry facilities were especially helpful. The folks at the front desk were cheerful and contributed to our enjoyment of Geiranger. Prior email correspondence was useful in ironing out some details of our itinerary in Norway.
Good hotel though a little worn out. But great location and good breakfast. Staff looked a little annoyed but was helpfull. Geiranger and this hotel is a tourist hotspot, and sometimes large cruise ships park just in front of your room, spoiling the beautiful view on Geiranger fjord.
Booking at this hotel is unreliable. We had booked a few months ago dinner for 2 for Friday evening 13 June 18h00. A few hours before this confirmed dinner we received an email that booking was cancelled, without giving any reason. Our question of why was not answered. Too bad. We took away pizza.
Rather a disappointing stay, alarm went off several times early in the morning. Room rather basic considering what it cost. But the hotel was in a great location.
While the location is good, the service and breakfast options (esp for vegetarians/ vegans) need lot of improvement. The room was not cleaned during entire day and the response provided was sub-optimal. Other hotels in Norway have given a significantly better experience.
Atendimento impecável, café da manhã foi simplesmente perfeito e o hotel excelente e muito bem localizado.
A vista da varanda do nosso quarto foi uma das mais linda e espetaculares dos inúmeros hotéis que já nos hospedamos.
It's a really nice hotel. I would highly recommend getting a room that has a view of fjjord. The hotel staff were very friendly. The rooms are a very good size and the breakfast is really really nice. I think many of the reviews here are fake as we had a fantastic time here with great service, lovely rooms and great food.
Spectacular architecture is of no use to me if physical well-being (eating in a restaurant) is not guaranteed. Bäd müsste auch eine Renovation erhalten I will not come back to your Hotel.
Mass tourism at it´s best. Awful breakfast. No personality, low service.....there is nothing more to say.
For the price, I expected an exceptional stay, but this hotel didn’t come close to delivering. There are far better options in this price range that offer true luxury and better service.”
