Hotel Metropolis

A bit old and would require a Renovation, not kid friendly (no boiler, no elevator, entrance too small)

The room was dirty, the floor carpet was dirty, and the room needs to be cleaned for insects.

Žinoma už tokią kainą nereikia tikėtis kondicionieriaus, arba kažko neįtikėtinai super modernaus, nes tai labai senas statinys, bet apsilankymo dieną ir naktį jis būtų buvęs labai gerai. ;)
Dėl švaros. Atrodo kaip ir viskas neblogai, bet mažas pastebėjimas, apaugusi kalkėmis ir apnašomis dušo kabinos apatinė dalis.

Kambariams reikia remonto. Duše nebuvo muilo. Nebuvo atsižvelgta į specialius pageidavimus. Drabužių spirnta užsyatyts lova-neatsidaro durys. Kambaryje galėtų būti virdulys. Patpgumai neatitinka šiuolaikinių standartų.

Attention, pas d'ascenseur pour monter les valises dans les étages.
Le mobilier des chambre est "basique" et la moquette a certainement vécu... ne pas s'attendre à un établissement moderne ou d'exception. Vous voilà prévenus !

Das Frühstück dürfte etwas vielfältiger sein, bzgl. Brot, süßem Aufstrich und Müsli. Mir war es zuviel Ein und Wurst / Speck.

I love Kaunas, and the location of this hotel is quite excellent, just a few meters from the main pedestrian street. And it has historical value. Too bad it is left to rot. Rooms has obviously not been upgraded since the seventies, maybe even the sixties, the worst part are the doors.
I'm guessing the one to my room was quite like the others. It is easy to tell that people have tried, maybe successfully, to get into the room without a key, as much of the wood surrounding the lock is teared off. Even an amateur thief would spend less than 5 seconds to get in. Receptionists are mostly absent from their desk, so the hotel is potentially very easily accessed by people with bad intentions. Combined with the mouldy stains on the bathroom walls (not to mention the other stains close to the toilet), defective drain in the sink, lack of air-conditioning, outdated TV, ancient scribbles on the wall, weird solutions for 'repair' of the light over the bed (probably representing a fire hazard) and the fact that no elevators are available it is a two star hotel at most.
As a 'bonus' there are shady deals going on at night in the parking lot, not a great thing when feeling kind of unprotected (because of the door to the room) in the first place...
A safe in the room should be standard in these circumstances, but no, not even a kettle for boiling water. One of the worst hotels I've had the displeasure of visiting, and I've travelled a lot.
For a town like Kaunas, with all of its luxury stores and high class restaurants it is simply a paradox that this place even operates. The local tourism board should warn people of this place. Hopefully they do.
I must add that the fee for loosing the room key was fair, only 15 euro. So yeah, that was a relief, but didn't quite balance the experience.
