A GREAT choice for exploring the Okayama area.
Pros:

This hotel is owned by JR, so it is easily accessible via a designated walkway directly from Okayama Station. When exiting the Shinkansen gates, look for signs to the hotel access walkway. If you miss the signs, it's still only a 2-3 minute walk from the station. The lobby is grand and luxurious, breakfast was over-the-top delicious with a great variety of local and international foods, the room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, and we had a fantastic city view. The staff was very courteous and helpful. There are lots of choices for restaurants in the hotel and in the surrounding neighborhoods. It took us approximately 30 minutes to wander through neighborhoods on our walk to the beautiful Korakuen Park and the Okayama castle area. We made Okayama a base to explore the art islands of Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima.

Cons:

There was nothing to criticize--we only wish we could have stayed longer to experience the denim district and eat more local peaches.
