Normal buffet service at Taste Garden on B1F is expected to resume from June 20, 2026. The garden area will be temporarily closed, while indoor dining will remain open as usual.

Location was good.
We were not notified on booking that work was taking place. The location of breakfast had changed and it was poor with not many hit good options. There was no Lounge area to sit and relax. The rooms were large but consider that facilities were poor. We had previously stayed in the other Pullman in Shanghai and it is a far superior hotel.

From the moment we arrived, the Pullman Shanghai Central set a new standard for hospitality. In all my years of travel I have never met a Front Office Manager like Anna — she went above and beyond at every turn, anticipating our needs and assisting with warmth, efficiency, and genuine care. Her attention to detail made our stay seamless and memorable.
Concierge Elliott delivered impeccable service and local knowledge. He provided excellent recommendations and handled our requests with calm professionalism, which added real value to our visit.
Front office staff member Max was always on hand with a bright smile and an eager willingness to help. His positive attitude and prompt assistance made check-in and every interaction effortless.
I credit Pullman Shanghai Central for assembling such an outstanding team. Their professionalism, friendliness, and consistent service reflect very well on the brand. We look forward to returning and will happily recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues.

Proximity to centre and the breakfast noodles. Two of the staff were also helpful with my DHL saga.
Front end staff can hardly speak English even though the majority of the clients that I observed of this “five star” hotel are speak English.
The quality of room cleaning is below the expectation of a five star hotel. Check out the Conrad as a reference point. Soiled towels from biscuit crumbles were left in the room until I spoke to the desk. The room was left in the same disarray with suitcases and bags left as I left them. The sink area was pretty much untouched. Abysmal! The hotel overcharged me because of bad computation. What was on bookings.com was different from their charge even including the taxes. On top of that, they charged me for five days' breakfast instead of three. I already submitted extensive feedback on the booking.com platform. The Hotel owes me a refund so please refund as one of the managers said they would
Pro’s : Room was good, large & comfortable. Location is fine - near to a large shopping mall, & attractions.
Cons : the Executive Lounge was a big let down - disinterested staff (especially the pompous gentleman in a gray suit who appeared to be a supervisor, but needs basic customer service retraining) awful tiny wine selection, & average food. We only visited briefly twice on our 4 night stay as it wasn’t a pleasant space to be in. Also breakfast was not served in the executive lounge, but in what looked like a temporary canteen in a conference room on the 3rd floor. Food was awful, bread & pastries etc were stale, & not even a decent coffee to be had.
In summary if only need a decent room in a good location, & don’t expect friendly service, this hotel could work for you. But simply don’t waste your money on an executive room with lounge access, it’s not worth it.
The staff
I wasn’t informed that some restaurants are closed. According to should invest more for english lessons for the staff. Otherwise the staff is very kind and full of good intentions, however english knowledge ( or no English knowledge) is a barrier.
It is clean and well kept. It is well polished.
It feels dated. It does not give the modern feeling that you would expect -as part of your experience in the city- from Shanghai.

of course the building is high, and the hotel is not on the top, but on the middle of the building :)
I booked 6 rooms, received upgrade for my room. Rooms booked itself were almost the highest category with lounge access, so was hard to book.
- got welcome amenities to all 6 rooms
- lounge is very strong, and its workers are very qualified, they served our team very well all 4 days of our stay,
- received 4 pm late check-out for all 6 rooms
Concierge service helped me to achieve some rare tea from the online store,
