Washington Square Inn

The plants in the planter boxes and containers are all dead. It used to be so inviting and lovely. Nothing worse than arriving at your hotel and seeing all the dead plants. There was a lot litter and garbage in front of the hotel. It needed to be picked up because it was blowing all over the sidewalk. It was not a good look. There was nowhere to plug in our cell phones. Power strips are needed next to the bed

The OpenKey app wasn't working so we had to use the physical keys which would always get stuck etc. For the price and the room, we were disappointed at the room accommodations (accessible double bed room). Wasn't expecting that, was hoping for the room we usually get, a corner, i think with bay window/seat, king bed, but it might've also been my oversight in my rush to book. Was just hoping that the other rooms would be of the same charm. The ceiling fan was noisy, the bathroom vent sounded like a cow giving birth, haha. And of course the foot / motor traffic being right on the front ground floor, but that's to be expected.

The 100% digital check in was very confusing. Our room was very small and the shower was tucked into the corner with the shower door open to the rest of the room. The shower also didn’t work so we had to leave without being able to shower because there was no one onsite to fix it.

No AC in the room.

The room was tiny. The check in procedure was poor. The internet connection kept stopping so you have to re-login with username and password

Hair dryer is broken and has been since last year

Das Zimmer hat die besten Zeiten schon hinter sich. Wände sind verschmutzt, Einrichtungsgegenstände defekt, in der Dusche gibt es Schimmel. Eine Rezeption gibt es nicht mehr, alles funktioniert nur noch online. Dafür sind 200 $/Nacht nicht angemessen.

Internet was intermitent during our stay. Bathroom was outside of the apartment, which is a bit inconvenient.

Tv didn't work

It wasn’t obvious how we were to check in. This caused a bit of confusion. It also meant needing a staff member. This is a bit of a hassle when nobody is there but it was sorted relatively quickly.

They tell you it’s a “smart” hotel, which is simply a fancy way for people not to be available when things go wrong. The communication was ridiculous. Even when they insisted daily that we download an app to check in days in advance, it never occurred to them that they’d need to provide the code to enter the front door. We received a notice that the room was ready and went there only to find it was still being cleaned. Everything on the hallway smelled awful by the way. We had to do a lot of back and forth to the hotel by then. They waited until the very last moment when our check in time was already due to say that the room was not going to be available (even after confirming minutes before that everything was ok). Disastrous communication and they didn’t even offer a compensation refund when we had to search for a last minute hotel. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my worst enemies.

Clearing the ‘security’. Why should I have to scan a photo of my passport when Booking.com specifically instructs users not to do that very thing!

Bath
