Categories

Cleanliness
8
Most guests described rooms as clean, but there are specific complaints (dirty windows, a rotten-fish odor on one floor) that lowered the cleanliness impression.
Service
9.6
Service is consistently praised throughout the reviews: friendly, helpful front desk staff; described as extraordinary and exceptionally courteous.
Location
9.5
Location is a clear strength: waterfront, near the Queen Mary and cruise ports, walking path to Aquarium of the Pacific and convenient for cruise travelers.
Room Quality
9.2
Rooms are frequently called clean and well-appointed with beautiful views for many; minor negatives include a mediocre sofa bed and occasions of downgraded/no view.
Amenities
9
Amenities are generally good — complimentary breakfast, walking path, free Passport bus — though there are issues noted (hot tub incident, parking logistics/cost).
Value for Money
7.5
Several guests cited high ancillary costs (notably expensive parking and pricey nearby restaurants), which hurt perceived value despite good service and breakfast.
Food and Beverage
9.6
Breakfast is repeatedly described as amazing and varied; on-site recommendations (local pizza) were well received.
Overall Experience
9.6
Overall sentiment is very positive — smooth check-in/out, friendly staff, good breakfast and location lead many guests to recommend or rebook despite a few issues.

Great place in Long Beach
Pros:

I really like this hotel, the service was friendly, the hotel was quiet and a good location near the Queen Mary and right on the water. The free breakfast was also great!

Pros:

There is an easy walking path over the bridge right to the Aquarium of the Pacific, and a free bus, Passport, that takes you to and from downtown. The complimentary breakfast was very fresh.

Pros:

$38 a night for parking is highway robbery! Clean rooms with dirty windows, loud partying at the park next door until 2am was enough to interrupt sleep on the 4th floor. Nice location. Staff was friendly.
Factoring in another 40 bucks a night, I could have stayed in a nicer hotel.

Pros:

We booked a one-night stay before embarking on our cruise. We took a Lyft from LAX. It dropped us right at the front door. Check-in was smooth and the front desk employee was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, well-appointed, and had a beautiful view. We ordered delicious pasta from Big E pizza based on an employee's recommendation. The breakfast had great variety and was good. Check-out was smooth. They were able to break some larger bills for me at the front desk for tipping on the cruise ship. We took the walking path rather than using a ride share. It is mostly a beautiful paved sidewalk along the water and others were doing the same. There are some parking lots to cross. It was doable. Realistic expectations: the sofa bed is a sofa bed. It's not anything to rave about, but works for one night. There is not a lot of shopping on this side of the bridge or restaurants that deliver nearby if you have no vehicle. You can have food delivered for a fee. I would book Residence Inn again if we do another Long Beach cruise.

Pros:

The view wasn’t what’s pictured. When we got to our room the entire floor smelled like rotten fish. We requested to be on a different floor because of the smell. They gave us another room but with zero view. The hot tub had a homeless lady bathing herself in it. I know there are homeless and there’s nothing they can do about that but downgrading our room and having a homeless lady join us in the hot tub wasn’t a highlight. The breakfast was good and parking was easy.

Pros:

I enjoyed my stay. The staff was extraordinary and the spirit of the staff was welcoming. The breakfast was amazing. The only negative thing I could express is the cost of parking should be included in the price of the stay. That is just me of my pet peeves. I would certainly recommend this hotel. Bring your money, the surrounding restaurants were pricey.

Good stay in Long Beach!
Pros:

The staff was very nice and welcoming. If I needed anything, the staff was right there and willing to help! The hotel should consider adding shuttle service to Shoreline Village and Queen Mary, but that did not detract

Pros:

Fully booked/no available room, but I made my reservation a month or two before August 15, 2025. We are two elderly grandmas in a family trip, and this hotel ruined it! Never ever again for this hotel! We felt we were age discriminated by this hotel because our kids and our grandkids got a room, but we did not! Never trust this hotel!
