Ilsington Country House Hotel & Spa

Fabulous hotel, fabulous location, fabulous food, fabulous facilities, fabulous staff! In other words, this hotel has everything. After we first stayed in January 2025, the staff recommended May was a great time to visit Dartmoor and they were spot on. Great days exploring Dartmoor, set up by the hotel's brilliant breakfasts, before returning to enjoy the hotel's wonderful spa facilities and dinners. Truly a joy to stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at the Ilsington. The hotel is in beautiful grounds and is extremely peaceful. The bedroom we had on the first floor had great views, the bed was very comfortable the bathroom was spacious. The delicious flapjacks were a welcome treat after a day’s walking.
We ate in the restaurant – fantastic views to Haytor Tor and also in the Blue Tiger bar. Both meals were delicious and the service faultless. What makes the Ilsington such a special stay are the wonderful staff; everyone was friendly but also very professional, always happy to help with any questions we had. We were advised on walks in the area, and we were able to borrow guidebooks from the hotel. Overall, a fantastic stay and we definitely hope to return in the future.

A truly exceptional country escape. From the moment we arrived, the house felt like a peaceful retreat wrapped in charm and character. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. Our room was beautifully appointed, spotless, and full of thoughtful touches that made the stay feel special.
The grounds were stunning - rolling lawns, quiet corners to unwind, and views that instantly slow your heartbeat. Dinner was a highlight: fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive.
A five-star stay in every sense. We left feeling rested, cared for, and already planning our next visit 💕

Cannot describe what it’s like to have such friendly and welcoming hospitality… we have not known such lovely staff for years as we have lived and worked all over the world … you should be soo proud of your staff … they are gorgeous…
We enjoyed a very indulgent break with massages and full board etc … everything was cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed the cheese soufflé.. you clearly have excellent chef’s

My husband and I stayed at the Ilsington hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Every aspect of our stay was just wonderful. We will definitely be back, hopefully in the near future.

We stayed three days at the hotel and felt totally comfortable and well looked after all the time. the staff all greeted you as an old friend whenever they passed you - but remained efficient and professional at all times. Enjoy the view from the restaurant!
