Outstanding service. Great Spa. Fabulous location.

Quiet location, an excellent team of staff, lovely food and nice touches (fresh flapjack in room, dining tables were large and thoughtfully placed to take advantage of view).
Spa was small but absolutely welcome after our long drive.
Only that there was no A/C in room although fan was available, was too noisy to leave on at night. Any other time it wouldn't have been an issue though (heatwave in UK).
Everything. Nothing not to like but the food was next level.
Nothing.
We only stayed one night. We would gladly have stayed longer. We were on a cycling tour. The young staff were genuine, polite and committed to service. A very enjoyable dinner. Unfortunately we didn’t have time for the spar. We chose to visit Haytor instead. From the breakfast room we had a view of Haytor. Breakfast was top quality. This hotel is up market, just what we like and deserve when we are cycling. We could have imagined staying longer, but then we would have missed our interesting next stops. Canterbury to the West Country.
We left our posh car at home. I suspect that the management judged us by our mode of transport, despite our not wearing lycra. So best to arrive in a posh car.

What a wonderful 2 night stay we had to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we stepped through the door with a lovely welcome from Cameron, we couldn’t fault it. Service throughout was impeccable and could not be faulted. A lovely touch in our very comfortable room was a birthday card from the team.
Fabulous food in both the bar and restaurant. Lovely spa facilities and a super head and neck massage from Victoria.
A big shout out to Olivia, George, Emma and Hugo who all gave fantastic customer service worthy of a 5 star hotel.
Thankyou one and all!
Very good.
I tend to go for independent Hotels, when I did a search this came up. I have found Independent Hotels care more about their reputation.
Because we were so disappointed with a Hotel in the past, we tend to book just for a night, we could have stayed much longer.
Four exceptional members of staff, Lucy on Reception, she is a 'keeper' for the Hotel, asked her about a room, over kitchen....she gave an honest indication of available rooms, so helpful. The Manager, again, keen. Two members of staff so helpful the bar staff, young man who mixed cocktails and waitress going to Exeter Uni. All the staff muti task.
Hotel, swimming pool larger than I expected, everything was spotless, jacuzzi was fun.....not tired. The food was good too, Chef is good.
We have lived in Devon for nearly 25 years, I did not know this village existed.
Can't wait to return, nothing really to complain about. Hotels like this family owned are getting rare, support them or they will disappear.
Special thanks to Imogen and Mike for making my birthday trip extra special. Love this place and already planning our next trip!
Such an incredible place to come and stay for anyone looking to explore Dartmoor from the doorstep. Spa facilities are fabulous and everyone is so friendly.
Had a fantastic stay and the food at dinner exceeded all expectations - way above the typical bar we have come to expect.
Very disappointed. Booked afternoon tea as a birthday treat. Three adults one child. Two of the party requested alternate sandwiches due to dietary requirements. All replacements were egg. Bread was stale. On going to pay we were told we had to pay for four adults as a child portion had not been served. When we requested to take home the remaining items we were handed tin foil and bags. No provisions for the cream or jam which we left as did not feel able to take in the foil. Had been planning a trip there with friends we will not be going there.
We have visited Ilsington a number of times now and it is always fantastic. This time we got a complimentary upgrade to a room with lovely views across to Haytor. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern.
We had the spa mostly to ourselves on the tuesday afternoon and its the perfect place to relax. Wednesday morning was much busier but still good.
Our dinner at the restaurant was excellent. Beautifully presented and delicious. Service was great.
Overall highly recommend and I am sure we will be returning again next year!
Beautiful stay, always a friendly welcome.
Gorgeous peaceful setting at the top end of the village and stunning views up to Haytor.
Blue Tiger has a fabulous menu and the food is great, very large portions!
The spa is lovely and peaceful and a had a fabulous hot stone massage with the lovely Victoria.
Stayed in one of the delux doubles on 2nd floor, great decor, and very comfortable bed, lovely big bath and oh the home made flapjack! Nom nom!
Thank you, we’ll be back soon
Ilsington Hotel is in a lovely part of the country - beautiful garden to sit in and enjoy a delicious cream tea before sampling some lovely local gins. Sadly, we didn't have time to use the Spa, but will definitely make time on our next visit. Staff all extremely friendly, helpful and efficient, food was delicious. Bedroom and bathroom all lovely - particularly like the homemade flapjacks in the room - many thanks for a lovely couple of days and we look forward to our next visit.
This is our favourite hotel. The service is exemplary, the staff are all attentive, helpful and friendly, the chef is adaptable and caters for difficult dietary needs while serving beautiful food, the location on the edge of Dartmoor is perfect. We always look forward to our next visit.
