Pros:

The atmosphere was nice.

Cons:

Didn't like paying $14.99 for some tasteless eggs and burnt sausages. Most hotels have complementary breakfast.

Don't stay here if you like cleanliness and a good night's sleep!
Pros:

Long stay at this hotel, so writing a very detailed review. Originally booked 7 nights here at a Convention Center host hotel discount of $209. However, the rate changed to $239 per night since I added 4 nights to the start of my stay, during said event (stay more, pay more rate... thanks a lot, Hilton). When I checked in, I asked the manager (Ellen) to honor my original discount. Nope. Her excuse was something like "If I do that for you, I'll have to do that for everyone". Hilton Honors member here, what a joke. Checked into my room, which ultimately cost over $300 per night, including tax and obligatory fees, and NO breakfast included! Adding insult to injury, a big sign in lobby says that you can't bring your own food and eat it at a table (I had brought my own instant oatmeal, bowl and spoon from home!) After getting to my pre-chosen room (using the HH phone app) on the 9th floor, I noticed the unsightly mold growing in the shower's caulk and grout, and started to get upset. Came down to the front desk where Ellen asked if I would like to have my room "deep cleaned" immediately (it was 6pm, I had already unpacked all my clothes, was tired and hungry after travelling all day and dragging my suitcase 8 blocks from the Metro bus stop! (The airport Transit train is down for the summer, FYI). I said that I didn't want my clothes to smell like cleaning solution (why didn't they 'deep clean' before I got there?) So she comp'd me a mediocre $10 dinner in the "Grille", gave me a $25 credit on my bill for having to change rooms for that night, and assigned me a room on the top floor, at my request. She wanted my assurance (in a rather pushy and unfriendly way) that this was going to be OK, even though I hadn't seen the new room!! The message I got was 'Take it or leave it...no more changes' So, I hauled my stuff to the new room and collapsed for the night.
Next morning, much to my disgust, the new room was even dirtier, shabbier, and facing the dog park outside, where I was rudely awakened by the barking dogs and loud voices! The A/C unit was exceptionally loud in the "upgraded" room, too. No sleep that night, and I was getting grumpy about the whole situation. Next morning I grabbed a bellhop cart and toted all my belongings back down to the front desk and asked to have my first room back! The very friendly desk clerk (not Ellen) said she would see what she could do, since the old room was re-rented and the hotel was completely booked. Well, I got lucky and moved back into my original room at 2pm (Hurray!) and stayed there for the next 10 nights. And, no, it had NOT been deep cleaned before I settled in the second time. Go figure.... they only want to clean your room after you're in there, LOL!

Pros: convenient location to Convention Center (if you're willing to "jay-walk"... I was); A/C and plumbing worked; staff is generally quite friendly and accommodating; great smelling hand soap by Crabtree Evelyn and cushy (all cotton!!) bath towels; nice large work desk; pleasantly furnished (if you don't look too closely); bright and clean stairwell, at least between the 9th and 10th floors, which I got to know pretty well on that first night.

Cons: see photos; beds are lumpy; sheets are polyester-blended, full of static, and made my skin red and blotchy each morning; room was filthy, especially the sticky carpet next to the bed...super ICK; bathroom mirror frame decomposing (what is that fuzzy stuff?); no glassware in room (had to go to Target to get one); no in-room safe; no close-up vanity mirror in bathroom; no pen and paper to make notes about all the room deficiencies; mistake on bill for a charge in their lobby shop (a purchase that I never made); walls are paper thin; lots of street noise and police sirens to wake you at night (not the hotel's fault...just sayin'); no one at the front desk when I called (twice!) around 2:00am last night to inquire about the loud 'pop-pop-pops' (I was thinking gunfire) near the hotel, which startled me awake, and caused me to request a Lyft ride to the bus stop for the next morning...no one there to take my request! Thanks a lot, HGI Mpls: I arranged my own Lyft ride which showed up 10 minutes late!

My advice? Pay more and stay at the Ivy, instead. If you must stay here, bring a Pyrex glass measuring cup to boil water in the room's microwave for your instant oatmeal, so you don't get shamed when trying to get some from their breakfast "restaurant"....reserved for paying breakfast customers only!

a good location - Good hotel.
Pros:

The location is fantastic, sitting just steps from the convention center. My double queen room featured a desk and plenty of space to get comfortable. I found the business center both accessible and convenient to use. Although I arrived ahead of schedule, the hotel accommodated an early check-in, and the reception team was consistently friendly, helpful, and excellent.

Cons:

A purchase of food or a drink was required to hang out in the bar, and I felt the breakfast, starting at $15, was overpriced.
