Food a little expensive
Very disappointed, I was bitten in my sleep up the backs of my legs. I explained to the receptionist in the morning, showed her the bite marks and she said management would be in contact with me, 7 days later and have heard nothing despite calling to check I hadn’t missed am email/call by accident.
I stay in a lot of hotels for work, I just need a clean place to sleep a lot of the time, so I’m not fussy and am often willing to overlook things but being bitten then ignored is not one of them
Staff were friendly, supportive and very good at their jobs, good communication 👏🏽 so well done, great customer service from them. The hotel was clean and tidy which is very important.
The hotel has no air conditioning and I think the price for this hotel especially being out of london, it overpriced for this type of hotel, doesn't come with facial tissue box near bed side. The hotel doesn't have full light on the ceiling but only had it at the entrance of the room and just the bedside lamp.
Everything
Extra pool cost
The location for family and friends was ideal as we attended a wedding there. Room was well appointed. Staff that were there were very helpful and polite
Looking tatty in places. Grossly understaffed for the occasion. Took forever to get food out. Wine wasn’t served up until after some had finished eating. The staff that were there worked extremely hard the whole evening. They were a credit to the company. The managerial organisation needs to be looked at seriously. Customers were let down badly.
Great location good size rooms and friendly staff Starbucks on site pub and grill and leisure centre
We stayed here for 2 nights on a visit to see family.
We were late in checking in to our room which was number 01, so we were tired snd just wanted to go to bed. Check in was automated, and our screen didnt work very well., so it took twice as long to type in all out details, and we had too be very heavy handed to do this.
The first thing that hit us was a damp smell, and then the view. The smell I think was from the bathroom, which was a damp fusty smell. The actual shower room wasn't finished very well either, with discoloured grout and shabby paint work that was very rough. The view from the bedroom was out was onto air conditioning units, extractors and general machinery. It looked awful!!!! Then there was a tall brick wall (part of the hotel) about 2.5 meters behind this, which meant the room was really really dark and dismal. The cleanliness was just ok but it did need a good deep clean and hoover. We were tired and just wanted to go to bed, and thought we'd leave it to the morning.
In the morning the toilet wouldn't flush, but after about 10 attempts it did. The overflow on the toilet wasn't working properly, meaning that the water continually ran into the bowl, meaning the cistern doesn't fill up. This went on all night!! But it sometimes worked, maybe 1 in 6 attempts. We went to breakfast but there was no one in the reception area that we could talk to about it, and when we left, we were in a hurry to meet some family.
We left out a door card asking for the room to be serviced but when we came back no one had been. When we mentioned this , the room car was to be left out before 10pm the night before. I said we didnt know that, and was told it was written on the door card. But it's in very small writing!!!!!
As we were late back again, we didnt think it was worth saying to anyone as again, we were late and just wanted to go to bed rather than swap rooms at this stage in our visit.
When we were checking out, a member of staff asked us how our stay was. I told them, about some of out issues and the view from the room only to be told that none of the rooms had a good view in Hyde, but I know that there were much better views out the back of the hotel. We've stayed at a few Village hotels over the years although it's been maybe 10 years since, but we've always found them much much better than this standard, and I'm surprised it has a 4 on Tripadvisor. Maybe this was just our room.
The leisure facilities however were good, with a pool and a spa area.
I think this hotel is badly in need of an over haul, and feel that its first and foremost, a leisure centre with bedrooms, done badly.
I would not recommend this to anyone and has put us off ever staying in another Village hotel.
Comfortable and clean…. Lovely manager on check in
When I asked for things at breakfast, the staff were quick to respond.
Thank you!
View out of window in my bedroom was of the roof and extractors - dirty and untidy - needs some attention
Lovely comfortable bed as usual and fab shower
We ordered food in our room and it was cold but eat it as we're hungry also we were in room 117 which is located right next to the heating ducts outside which is noisy and kept me awake it just spoiled the stay if I'm being honest the constant humming noise isn't good
