Categories

Cleanliness
7.5
Generally clean rooms and bathrooms reported, but occasional issues noted (musty smell in one room, sticky/dirty beer‑garden tables, stains on walls/carpets) so cleanliness is slightly below excellent.
Service
8.5
Staff repeatedly described as helpful, friendly and professional (several mentions of attentive breakfast service and an exceptional dining-room team member), supporting a strong service rating.
Location
9
Multiple mentions of an excellent village location, convenient for gardens/attractions and close to the train station — location is a clear strength.
Room Quality
7.5
Rooms often comfortable with good beds and some with private garden areas, but several reports of tired decor, attic rooms being very hot, an uncomfortable shower and an AC leak — mixed room quality.
Amenities
7.5
Positive notes on amenities like breakfast variety, coffee machines and bathrobes, but inconsistent cooling (no AC or fans in some rooms) and occasional maintenance/cleanliness of public areas temper the score.
Value for Money
7
A few guests felt the hotel was not good value or slightly expensive for food & drink; value perceptions are somewhat lower than other areas.
Food and Beverage
8.5
Breakfast and restaurant repeatedly praised as delicious, well presented and varied, earning a strong rating for food and beverage.
Overall Experience
8.5
Most stays described as very enjoyable with repeat visits and warm welcomes; some disappointments (value, heat in rooms, tired areas) keep the overall score from being higher.

Pros:

Good location near lots of Cotswold villages. The hotel was in a quiet area but with local amenities close by if you needed it. Staff very attentive and helpful. The pudding club was very well run and we had a great time.

Cons:

Our original room was very small, small double bed and extremely hot on our arrival. It was also in a noisy area. But this was sorted out very quickly by the reception staff and the room we ended up with was excellent.

Lovely hotel and great staff
Pros:

Lovely welcoming hotel with attentive, hard working staff.
We did a last minute booking (literally the day before) and had the last available room.
The room was a small double in the eaves and was thoughtfully furnished and comfortable.
The restaurant was great and we were served at a table in the garden which was lovely.
Would thoroughly recommend.

Good place to stay.
Pros:

Close to plenty of Cotswold attractions.

Cons:

Must be plenty of wealth in the Cotswold area. Drinks prices were rediculous.

Disappointing
Pros:

Quiet location, good bedroom for outdoor access as we had dogs with us.

Cons:

Outdoor tables dirty and never wiped. Had to get and carry our own breakfast out to garden as not enough staff. No wine list even though website says there was. £30 per dog per night is far too expensive- double what we paid in Moreton on Marsh. Hotel had general unkept feel.
