A cosy smart hotel in Auxerre close to old town.
Pros:

Small hotel right on the river close to restaurants and an easy walk into the old town. Secure parking with EV charging available at £13.50 for the parking and £10 to overnight charge an EV (need own cable).

Huge comfy bed with a fridge, kettle and coffee maker with pods in room. Typical buffet French breakfast with good coffee!

Staff are lovely. Isabelle the manager sorted out an issue with our room and gave us a nice discount for the trouble. All in all, a good find!

Cons:

Shower head as usual it seems in France unable to stay upright resulting in a poor experience.

Gute Lage - langsam verbleichender Schick mit umfangreichem Modernisierungsstau aber: Gut Lage

Wir hatten ein kleines Doppelzimmer gebucht, das war aber so klein, dass das allenfalls als kleines Einzelzimmer hätte durchgehen können. Das Bad war winzig. Die Dusche für einen Mann mit 1,9 Meter nur gebückt nutzbar - sie wurde in eine Dachschräge eingebaut.

Ein Blick in die anderen Zimmer bestätigte den Eindruck bei unserem Zimmer: die besten Jahre liegen hinter dem Hotel: sehr umfangreicher Modernisierungsstau.

Leider waren etliche der jungen Damen am Empfang der englischen Sprache sehr unsicher. Statt sich aber dann freundlich zu bemühen, verfielen sie in eine zum Teil bornierte Arroganz. Rühmliche Ausnahme, die Dame, die uns heute ausgecheckt hat. Sehr freundlich, kompetent und ausgesprochen hilfsbereit.

Pleasant enough. Auxerre is very interesting.

We fell in love with Auxerre on our one night stay. Le Maxime might not have been our best choice.
Pros:

The member of staff was very helpful at our arrival and had been so when I booked the stay a few weeks before in rectifying my error in omitting a breakfast etc. The bedroom/ bathroom was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The location was great, close to the river and also the cathedral/shops.

Cons:

There was a seal missing to the bottom of the shower screen ( I have the exact same at home) which means that water always leaks to the bathroom floor when showing. A simple fix needed.
Something was missing in the feel to the hotel, it was a little staid perhaps. Suiting another type of clientele.
We have been spoilt with a couple of hotels in this trip to the south of France and back, where one felt to be genuinely welcomed. So perhaps I am being unfair.

Der Aufpreis für Zimmer mit Flussblick ist im 2.OG aufgrund der kleinen Fenster nicht wirklich gerechtfertigt. Die Seite hat eher den Nachteil das morgens wieder Autos auf der Straße dazu kamen, sofern man wie wir bei offenem Fenster schläft

Situation près du centre et au bord le l’eau. Lit confortable.

Cons:

Évier bouché, prise électrique défectueuse.
Chambre vieillotte avec tapis plein.
Salle de bain vétuste. Pas de machine à café.
Pas possible d’avoir deux lits.
130€ pour une chambre qui en vaut 90.
Petit déjeuner à 18€ trop cher et non pris
