A five-star experience!
Pros:

We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria for five days while visiting Chicago. Both my wife and I agree that this was the most pleasant stay we have ever experienced in a hotel. Every employee we encountered was happy and helpful. Here are some of them: Logan, Cam, Janella, Will, Eleni, Graham, Maya, Alicia, Anthony, Beth, the housekeepers, the turn-down gal... and so many more whose names I never wrote down. Along with the luxurious surroundings, it all added up to a wonderful experience! We hope to return some day.

Please stay at The Waldorf Astoria Chicago!!!!
Pros:

Waldorf Astoria Chicago
Staff was awesome!!! I mean everyone!!! Room was immaculate!!! I highly recommend staying here… the location is perfect as it’s not on a main street so it was very quiet at night. It was worth every penny… the courtesy car was very helpful. The whole atmosphere in the hotel was welcoming and inviting.

It was a good stay overall, a bit expensive, however.
Pros:

The property was well located and has all the amenities one desires to have.

Cons:

It shouldn’t have said “breakfast included.” With a cost of more than one thousand dollars a night to stay, the breakfast allowance of $30 per capita is quite ungenerous.

A Truly Unmatched Experience
Pros:

My boyfriend and I have stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago twice and each time has been a true 10/10 experience. Everything from the attentiveness of the staff to the quality of the rooms is beyond exceptional.

Our most recent stay was for my 33rd birthday and not only were we given a beautiful room upgrade, but there was the sweetest welcome gift with a handwritten card in our room.

A special thank you to Jud, Sheryl, Logan, Miche, and Riz for your unmatched hospitality and for making our stay truly memorable.

Waldorf Astoria Chicago Is Luxury
Pros:

From the moment we arrived everything was very warm and professional with attention to detail. The staff was genuinely friendly. Will checked us in and was very welcoming and wanted to make sure our stay was perfect. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner and the servers to the mixologist Floyd were awesome! We are already planning our next trip to Chicago and the Waldorf Astoria will be our hotel of choice again.

Flipped the script….Waldorf for the win
Pros:

I absolutely love traveling with my 97 year old mother in love and while planning for that trip, I obtained accommodations as such. Well, I had to flip the script and truly the Waldorf turned lemons into lemonades. I won’t go into a lot of detail on that and will just say - this property is exactly what I needed - quaint, tucked away (which I loved) and beautiful.

The room’s decor and smell was typical of luxury, yet the room space was unexpected especially for downtown Chicago. Turn down service was perfect. Do not touch the minibar though LOL. While I know better to pick up something these eyes aren’t what they used to be, and I was charged the $18. However, a quick check and Will at the front desk quickly corrected the bill. He was super friendly and quick.

The house car (which goes a mile distance) was an added bonus and our driver was such a doll, can’t remember her name but she went to Grand Valley State University before transferring back to IL. She was a breath of fresh air.

Bernard’s (The Speakeasy) has a great girlfriend, couple and work networking vibe all in one. It has that exclusive, no cameras allowed feel - which I lovedddd. I can’t wait to bring my husband. It’s hard to have a girls, couple and work vibe all in one location, yet it was achieved AND the bartenders have a nice pour (value added!).

All in all what was supposed to be a trip for one thing truly turned into an entire different trip and the Waldorf in Chicago helped us make the best lemonade I’ve ever tasted. Will definitely return!

Another incredible stay
Pros:

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Waldorf Astoria Chicago. This was our third stay here, and it certainly won't be our last. Every team member we encountered was genuinely friendly and helpful. Whenever we needed anything, a quick call to guest services had it taken care of immediately and with a smile.

I want to give a special shout-out to Sheryl at the concierge desk, who truly made this an incredible visit. We were in Chicago celebrating my husband’s birthday, and her enthusiasm matched ours—she went above and beyond to make the occasion extra special. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a cake and treats delivered to our room. When I asked for assistance organizing something special for his actual birthday, she helped execute it flawlessly. Each evening, as we returned from exploring the city, she made a point to ask about our day and offer excellent recommendations for dinner and upcoming activities. She made us feel like true VIPs throughout our entire stay.

We stayed in a Junior Suite, which remains our favorite room type here. It is spacious, luxurious, and exceptionally comfortable. The bed and pillows provided a fantastic night’s sleep, and the housekeeping staff was thorough—always managing to refresh the room even when we stepped out for just a short period.

The dining and beverage service was also outstanding. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the hotel restaurant, ordered breakfast via room service every morning (which arrived hot, fresh, and perfectly timed), and ended each evening at the bar with an expertly crafted Old Fashioned.

The Waldorf Astoria has easily become our favorite hotel in Chicago and stands out as one of the best properties we have ever stayed in. Thank you to the entire staff for making our trip so memorable—we cannot wait to return!

The People Are What Make the Waldorf Astoria Chicago Exceptional
Pros:

We have stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago many times, and somehow the team continues to find ways to make each visit memorable. Chicago certainly has no shortage of luxury hotels, but for Nicole and me, the Waldorf continues to stand apart.

This stay started with a fantastic upgrade to a Gold Coast Suite, and it was beautiful. Spacious, comfortable, immaculate, quiet, and exactly what you hope for from a hotel at this level. The Waldorf’s Gold Coast location is also hard to beat. You’re within walking distance of so much of what makes this part of Chicago special, while the hotel itself still feels tucked away from the busyness of the city.

But the rooms and location aren’t ultimately why we keep returning.

It’s the people.

We had lunch at Brass Tack, and Alex was our server. Alex is incredible. We’ve gotten to know him through our visits over the years, and seeing him has become part of the Waldorf experience for us. He’s warm, funny, attentive, and genuinely interested in making sure you’re enjoying yourself. Lunch was excellent, but Alex has that rare ability to turn a meal into an experience.

One of the biggest highlights of this particular stay was Logan at Concierge.

We decided at the last minute that we wanted to have dinner at Arla, and reservations weren’t easy to come by. Logan took ownership of it immediately. She worked her contacts, made calls, followed up, and genuinely worked hard to find a way to make it happen for us.

And she did.

What impressed us wasn’t simply getting the reservation. It was the effort she put into it. You could tell she genuinely cared about making our evening special. She didn’t just point us toward a restaurant or tell us to check online — she became personally invested in helping us.

Logan was an absolute superstar and one of the highlights of our entire stay.

After dinner and before heading back to our room for the evening, we stopped at Bernard’s for cocktails. Nicole was behind the bar and was fantastic. She made excellent drinks and somehow kept everything at the bar moving smoothly while still making us feel like we had her attention. She was engaging, personable, professional, and created exactly the kind of relaxed atmosphere you want at the end of a great evening.

Moiz Kahn also made a point of welcoming us and ensuring our stay was top-notch. That personal attention from leadership matters, and I think it helps explain why the level of service throughout this property is so consistent.

That’s something Nicole and I have commented on many times.

It isn’t just one department or a handful of exceptional employees. From the moment you arrive, there is a noticeable culture of hospitality throughout the hotel. The front desk, concierge, restaurants, bar, valet, housekeeping — people acknowledge you. They make eye contact. They remember names. They say welcome back. And most importantly, it feels genuine rather than rehearsed.

That’s the difference between an expensive hotel and a true luxury hotel.

You can build beautiful suites. You can have a great location, beautiful public spaces, excellent restaurants, and impressive amenities. Those are all important, and the Waldorf delivers them.

But you can’t manufacture the feeling of being genuinely cared for.

People create that.

For anyone considering the Waldorf Astoria Chicago, especially if service is an important part of how you define luxury, I can’t recommend it highly enough. The Gold Coast Suite was wonderful, the location is exceptional, Brass Tack and Bernard’s are great to have within the property, and the hotel itself is beautiful.

But years from now, we’re probably not going to remember every detail of a hotel room.

We’ll remember Alex.

We’ll remember Nicole.

We’ll remember Logan refusing to give up until she found us that dinner reservation.

We’ll remember Moiz making sure we felt welcomed and cared for.

That’s hospitality. That’s luxury. And that’s why we continue to come back to the Waldorf Astoria Chicago.

Five stars, without hesitation.

Especially Grateful
Pros:

Carolina drove my husband and I through the busy Chicago streets while we were at our stay at the Waldorf Astoria. She made sure to drop us off right at the door every time - I was 6 months pregnant, so I was deeply grateful!

Hotel is awesome, staff makes it even better!
Pros:

The hospitality and customer service is top notch! From the front desk, to the spa, to the restaurant staff, everyone! The hotel is pet friendly and the staff is great at seeming to love your pet about as much as you do. The location is in walking distance of so many wonderful restaurants and shops. Highly recommend!

AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE (thanks Janella!)
Pros:

This hotel is stunning, clean, and has all of the best amenities, but what makes it truly special is the absolutely incredible customer service. Everyone here is so kind, so helpful, and makes each guest feel like royalty. A special shout out to Janella Prospero, one of the front office ambassadors, for making our stay extra special. Our stay was the day after our wedding, as bided our time waiting for our flight out of ORD for our honeymoon, and she made sure everything was so special for us, upgrading us to a suite free of charge and providing us with other discounts. Then, unfortunately we missed our flight due to unforeseen circumstances and the next fight was the next night, so we called the hotel hoping for a last minute room, and they not only got us in, they upgraded us AGAIN and brought us snacks and the sweetest personalized, handwritten note about how sorry they were about our circumstances but hope happy they were to try and help in any way they could. They made our whole day. 11/10 experience for us, and we might just have to return for our anniversary next year!

Best service I’ve ever had!
Pros:

This hotel is incredible. I stay 75 nights a year in hotels and this is the best one ever! The concierge, Logan, was the shining star of this trip. She made sure my wife had everything she needed while suffering from a migraine. Deandre made sure the hotel could extend my corporate. The suite we had was phenomenal, with a fireplace and ample space. We will stay here each time we come to Chicago from here on out.

Amazing experience at the Waldorf in Chicago
Pros:

What a wonderful, amazing 3 days at the Waldorf Astoria in Chicago!! Our King bedroom suite was clean, neat, spacious and very comfortable. The customer experience was top notch!! Every night we had turned down service and the room was cleaned early every day. The staff was very accommodating and professional. We had one issue with the shower and they took care of it immediately. We will definitely be back!

Lovely hotel stay
Pros:

Just came off another 3-night stay at this hotel and we had a lovely time.

We booked two rooms through Amex FHR and both were upgraded to suites, which was a nice surprise (perks of a Sunday through Wednesday stay I guess). The rooms were very clean and well appointed. We loved the balconies as well.

Food was great at Brass Tacks and also via room service. Room service was nice enough to accommodate my off the menu request of celery juice each morning, which was much appreciated.

Service in the hotel was excellent. We used the house car once which was really convenient. Location is great.

Prices are high ($10 room service delivery fee + 20% automatic tip is absolutely ridiculous) but weekdays room rates are a bit more reasonable than weekends.

We'll likely return the next time we're in the Chicago area, especially if we can lock in decent Amex rates again.
