Classy public areas. Rooms need upgrades
Pros:

Stayed here as part of an Italian lakes tour. Our final destination. The interior of the hotel is grand and classy. Different story in the rooms. To be fair our room was quite nice with a distant lake view from a nice terrace, but was a bit scruffy. Most of the other guests on our tour were not so lucky, but let them do their own reviews. Breakfast was ok tinned fruit is a bit gauche, best coffee of the tour though. We dined once in the evening and it was disappointing to say the least, food average to poor service incredibly bad.
It’s on a very busy road which we found quite exhausting, although you can use tunnels to the very luxurious Hotel Dino Grand (a sister to the Simplon) which is closer to town.
Would have given it 3.5 dots if I could.

Pros:

Struttura bellissima, tenuta impeccabilmente.
La galleria che collega l'hotel con il Grang Hotel Dino è stupefacente!

Cons:

La vasca idromassaggio della mia camera non era funzionante, non c'erano le ciabattine mono uso.

La gentillesse du personnel de réception, nous avons eu la chance d’être surclassés et la vue lac de la chambre était splendide.

Cons:

Petit bémol : manque d’insonorisation - n’oubliez pas de bons bouchons d’oreille - mais la vue magnifique depuis la chambre et la gentillesse et le professionnalisme des équipes hébergement en valent la peine !

De kamer is wat gedateerd: oude tapijten, verouderd sanitair. Eigenlijk contrasteert dit te veel met het indrukwekkende hotel zelf (restaurant, bar, zwembad, inkom, enz.)

Beautiful property but some staff should learn from Alfredo
Pros:

Did not have breakfast. We just wanted coffee with milk.

Cons:

We are two elderly guests who asked to make ourselves cappuccino in readily available coffee machines at the entrance to the breakfast room.
There are no tea or coffee makers in the otherwise lovely room.
We were told by staff that we must wait to 9am, another 40 minutes , until the bar opened to get cappuccino. It was not busy at the time in the breakfast room .

You are fortunate to have one young waiter with common sense, Alfredo, who told us to go ahead and make our cappuccino! Other staff had a lack of this quality.

It is unfortunate that an attractive property was undermined by some of your staff lacking any idea of service to their guests.

Il s’agit, d’après les explications, du pourboire pour le personnel. Il serait plus correct d’avertir les clients à l’avance.
