Location, size and layout of room, staff helpful parking garage with large spaces. Food in all locations was enjoyable.
Rooms lacked USB outlets for charging but plenty of outlets for personal chargers.
Only other issue felt breakfast was understaffed as replenishment of food and making up of tables was slow at times.
We had a super room view of the pool & ocean from the 5th floor, which we felt was good for the additional money paid for the room. Breakfast was plentiful and the hot breakfast was super, considering some of it was made by the chef in front of you, although it would be better to ask for what you want in Spanish if you can!
The outdoor pool was really nice too, if a little cold at first. the jacuzzi and bubblers were a surprising addition that we really enjoyed apart from it being just a bog standard pool!
The room layout is rather unique and might not be appropriate for some. otherwise not much to dislike! pool opening hours is a little late.
I have stayed in quite a few paradores, but this was my best experience ever. I loved the building, the architecture, the artwork, the views out on to the water, the chairs in the bar/ cafeteria, and the room itself. Everything was perfect. Everything was spotless, and comfortable, and the staff were all helpful and friendly. I'd have to give a special mention to Ana (I hope I have her name right) - she is the therapist who gave me the most wonderful treatment. [The spa area is fantastic as well, as is the outdoor space for lying on sunbeds and looking out on the water.]
I thought it was amazing value for money and I'd love to go back. [Not something I'd say about every parador. The parador of Cádiz is exceptional.]
vista fantastica!!
Goed bed. En alles was schoon. Mooi uitzicht.
The room was very spacious, we had a standard double and it was very spacious. I liked that the bathroom was separate (some hotels have taken to having the bathroom in the room - no screen)! The screen was enough to screen off the bathroom sinks and separate shower cubicle and toilet. The bath was separate and behind the bathroom sinks. Useful as you could hang washing in there. Also there was a radiator, which was on for the duration of our stay, which was great for drying our swim suits, trunks and underwear - we were very pleased with this. It didn’t make the bedroom particularly hot. Most rooms have sea views. Not much sun on the terrace till late afternoon, which suited us. Good wardrobe space and drawers located by the door, outside of the bedroom, with glass doors to close off, so clothes could stay fresh. There was a small fridge, with only a small amount of soft drinks from the hotel, but it meant that we could put water, our own drinks to chill, quite useful. We were provided with bottled water most days during our stay - 300 ml x2. On our arrival, we were given a gift of some soft donuts in a small pack and a welcome note, and on our last night we received a small bottle of local Sherry - this was very much appreciated.
The pool area is great. Loads of loungers and shades. The pool is huge and there is another smaller pool with jacuzzi so you can have an outdoor spa. All looking out to sea. There is a small pool bar, we didn’t eat there just grabbed a coffee to take away. All alcohol drinks available there.
It was lovely to get a fresh pot of decaf coffee at breakfast with hot milk in a separate metal jug was a plus - very good coffee.
The signature restaurant at the hotel - Bahia de Cadiz was very good the first two nights we ate there and was very reasonably priced. We had some lovely fresh mackerel the first night and I had a beautiful grilled sole, and my husband the swordfish - we are pescatarians. The wine was very good also. We would have eaten there every night thereafter, but night three we went in, the sole that I had ordered the night before, which my husband had was overcooked, and the chips which had been very good the previous nights seemed to be cooked in old oil. They gave my husband a very bad stomach during the night - he was in the toilet a lot of the night. My meal of fried sea bream was just deep fried pieces of fish and was very dry, plus the accompanying padrón peppers did not work well. We did not return after that night. I can only assume it was the chef’s night off !
Breakfast, although having a lot of options was not very healthy. All the bread was white, or white flour coloured brown with seeds added. Not very healthy. All of the breads to toast were white flour and some very sweet. The croissants were also very sweet - everything had a lot of sugar. Obviously the cakes were lovely, but also very sweet. The fruit the same. Being vegetarian who eats fish, no real savoury option available. The cheese, which I am trying to avoid due to cholesterol was actually not very nice tasting - very bland and tasteless. I think the addition of some wholemeal rolls and sliced wholemeal bread, larger salad options, and larger portions of nuts and different nuts available - there were walnuts in a tiny dish but the pieces wouldn’t have made up a whole nut ! - would make it better. Melon, pineapple and orange slices can also be high in sugar - fortunately there were some green kiwi to balance those.
Lunch in the lunch restaurant had a very limited menu - not great unless you like burgers, which I don’t. White bread for toasted sandwich, plus the same for the flat bread, a roll !
