Can't fault anything
Air conditioning in the bedroom could be better.
Spa and gym were great and the staff are friendly
Bathroom floor was dirty, linens were tired and pulled, our bathroom towels had holes in them and staining.
Lack of air conditioning and just overall modernisation.
Nice spa lovely gardens, clean
A little tired decor in the room, carpet bubbled and dirty. Cupboards damaged and worn.
Mattress not very comfortable
Amazing customer service and great value for money
Nothing
overall experience was good …
all the staff were helpful and very friendly …
room was good and had an undisturbed sleep.
the lack of air conditioning, especially in the bar and restaurant areas was noticeable especially as our trip was during the heatwave…
OBSERVATION - when researching the hotel before booking I noted the restrictions around smoking (wife is a smoker) which are understandable and did not affect my booking decision. However when we arrived I asked wheee the dedicated smoking areas were and was told that you could smoke anywhere outside as long as it was not by a door … which was fine and inline with other hotels we have stayed at. Unfortunately we could not find ANY bins or ANY facilities that would allow for a responsible disposal of cigarette butts in the outdoor areas or within the bar areas. This became a bit of an issue. When I suggested to my wife that she should put the cigarette butt in a tissue and dispose of it in the bin in room she pointed out that not only would it smell it could also be interpreted as smoking in the actual room which would have attracted the £150.00 ‘cleaning fee’ detailed on the Ts & Cs.
We had no issue respecting the hotel’s no smoking/vaping policy but they do need to provide some way of disposing cigarette butts in the outside area, especially as the do not seem to have the designated smoking areas advertised on their website.
What a perfect stay we had in the beautiful, historic, Thornton Hall Hotel.
When I am in the Wirral again, I won't stay anywhere else!
