Kindness of Rafael at the reception, available, professional and extremely pleasant with the customer !
La accesibilidad a las habitaciones era por medio de varias escaleras que cargado de maletas era complicado llegar
An experience at a wonderful Parador at an amazing location. The reception staff made us feel very welcome, both an example to the rest of the staff.
Breakfast was limited but nice, and again with a great location, particularly if you sit outside.
A great place to stay for a few days.
If the staff had been as enthusiastic as the two gentlemen at reception, the experience would had been even better.
Had a four night stay in this historic castle. Lovely view of the bay from our room, but I see that a lot of rooms just overlook the internal courtyard. Room is of average size and decor. Small windows as befits a castle/stronghold (and the cannonball indentations on the walls to prove it). Bathroom had a bath with overhead shower. Plenty of hot water. Kettle and mini fridge supplied but I understand that not all rooms have a kettle so bring your travel kettle if you like tea and coffee in your room. The mattress was very hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast good with bacon and eggs or omlette to order. There is both an indoor residents' lounge and a fantastic shady residents' outdoor terrace with great views of the bay towards Hendaye which is in France. Drinks are very reasonably priced from the bar which is open till 10 pm. There is a lift that can take you down to promenade level not far from the hotel. You can see it from the terrace side of the castle. Three little cafe/restaurants in Plaza de Armas outside the castle. The best local restaurants are the Marisqueros of Udin on the promenade to the right side of the castle as you exit and the Hermandos Fish restaurant to the left side of the promenade as you exit. The buses are all timetabled in Citymapper. The stop is very near the escalator half way along the road towards the town. The flat fare seems to be 2.5 euros whether you go to Irun or San Sebastian. It takes 35 minutes to get to San Sebastian and another 45 after that to get to Getania where the Balenciaga museum is. You can get a boat to Hendaye from the main quay of Hondarribia for 2.6 euros. It only takes 5 minutes. You can come back by boat or walk along the coastal pathway to the train station and Irun. Once you get to Irun I would recommend taking the bus back to Hondarribia. You can walk. The path after Irun is on the opposite side of the airport side. This was a fabulous holiday in a very scenic part of Spain. All the people we met were very pleasant and helpful.
Emplazamiento
Falta de restaurante
Beautiful hotel with a lovely view over the city!
Nothing!
Equipo profesional, con trato servicial y cercano. Gran desayuno.
A truly unique place with a fascinating history; four stars is a bit of an overstatement. Breakfast was rather poor—unsurprisingly, since the hotel doesn't run its own restaurant, so everything served was quick and standard.
For a 4-star hotel, only the location and the history of the place are good; everything else is looking rather worn...
Perfectly positioned to explore Hondarribia’s Old Town. Staff were responsive and helpful when I left an item behind. Parking was close and convenient.
Very expensive and under-equipped compared to other Paradors. As is to be expected with these hotels, there was a convoluted path to the room navigating frequent changes in level and stairs with luggage. Some staff assistance (or warning/advice at check-in) would be helpful. Lack of onsite restaurant was obvious at breakfast in both staffing and food preparation.
Increíble lugar. Las vistas te quitan el aliento. El personal muy amable, en general.
Es necesario mejorar el mantenimiento de ciertas cosas. Muchas telarañas, alfombras que requieren atención.
