the staff were pleasant
A heavy panel fell off under the sink in the bathroom onto my wifes foot. The window did not open properly, the shower controls did not work easily

A warm and welcoming hotel with plenty of historical charm. Very friendly staff, the food was excellent. We were lucky to have the suite, with the four poster bed, en-suite and separate lounge, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Good to have a choice of areas to relax with its 2 bar areas, coffee shop and snug by the reception. The hotel had its own Car park which is situated at the back of the hotel and its very easy to find. It has plenty of car park spaces, which is very handy as the hotel is in the town center.
The hotel was in a very central location of the town which was great for shopping and sightseeing but it can get a bit noisy during the evening/night if your room is at the front of the hotel.
Position of room
Room was very comfortable and clean. The only downfall was there was some noise from the live band on Friday but this finished at 2300 so unless you want an early night not much of a problem. Management informed us at the time of booking. Breakfast was very good with sufficient choice.

I think it’s a beautiful old building but it needs refurbishing, new curtains, cushions just felt very tired.

Your booking.com website set up as it was poorly worded. As a result we didn't book for the breakfast which I normally do. Not the fault of the hotel.
It is a nice old hotel in the centre of Stafford with nice facilities such as the bar and restaurant.
