I expected more. The room I saw on the pictures didn’t look like the place I stayed.

Cons:

During the day the air conditioner wouldn’t cool down more than 24 degrees Celsius. The lights in the room were too bright and cold, difficult to find a sweet relaxing spot. The arrangement of the room was a bit weird (e.g. the toilet was behind a small door in the corner next to the bedside table - the entrance felt constrained). There wasn’t a place to hang the towel, had to put it on the shower door.

The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was fine. Location was good.

Cons:

The standard room wasn't nice. It didn't feel 4 star at all. Bare white walls and white plastic fittings were more cell like than 4 star. There were 2 small knobs for holding hand towels and bath towels. These were placed as far as possible from the sink and shower. There was no toilet roll holder so we had to put the toilet roll on the plastic shelf.. There was only one bin(with no lid) in the shower room. None in the bedroom.
When I told reception they said I could pay to upgrade or there was nothing they could do, which I felt was rather dismissive.
We stayed at 4 other 4 star hotels in Andalucia (including another Madrid one) this holiday and this was the worst. I was very happy with all the others.
