Pros:

Außergewöhnliches Hotel in renovierter Villa in einem wunderschönen, gepflegten Garten mitten in Funchal.
Lage nahe der Altstadt, zu Fuß ca. 10 Min. in die Rua de Santa Maria (viele exzellente Restaurants). Rückweg anstrengend, da recht steil bergauf. Empfehle Rückfahrt mit Linienbus, Haltestelle direkt vor dem Hotel.
Garage (kostenpflichtig, 8€ pro Tag) recht eng, aber gut zu rangieren sofern das Auto nicht all zu groß ist. Einfahrt rechts neben der (unscheinbaren) Zugangstüre, Öffnung mit Funksender. Sehr praktisch. Direkter Lift ins Erdgeschoß und den 1. Stock.
Wir hatten die Premiere Suite (Zimmer 212) gemietet, sehr geräumig, 2 Zimmer, großes modernes Bad, Küche mit Küchenzeile, Kühlschrank, Mikrowelle, Kaffeemaschine, etc., Minibar (kostenpflichtig), riesige Terrasse mit tollem Blick über Funchal. Zwei getrennte Klimaanlagen (nicht verwendet). Große, weiß lackierte Schränke und Kommoden. Gelegen im 1. Stock des Herrenhauses.
Das Hotel bietet auch kleinere (modernere) Zimmer, einen gemütlichen Lounge-Bereich im 1. Stock und im Erdgeschoß eine Lobby mit Kamin, Selbstbedienungs-Getränke (kostenpflichtig auf Vertrauensbasis).
Das reichhaltige Frühstück wird teilweise serviert (Eier oder Omelette in vielen Variationen, 3 verschiedene Saft/Smoothie Varianten, verschiedene Sorten ausgezeichnetes Gebäck, Kuchen, Wurst/Schinken und Käse, Joghurt, Bowls mit Früchten, Obstkorb auf jedem Tisch. Kann im Frühstücksraum, aber auch auf der Terrasse oder im Garten eingenommen werden (falls das Wetter es erlaubt).
Personal überaus freundlich und aufmerksam, beim Check-in Begrüßung mit einem Gläschen Madeira-Wein, Empfehlungen für Ausflüge, Fahrstrecken und Übersicht über interessante Aspekte der Stadt und der Insel.
Wir würden das Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen, es ist eine gute Alternative zu Standard-Hotelburgen, hat aber keinen Pool oder Wellness-Bereich.

Cons:

Das Hotel hat ein bisschen Renovierungsbedarf, teilweise löst sich der Verputz von den Wänden (Bausubstanz), die Möbel teilweise abgenutzt.

Pros:

Das Zimmer war groß und geräumig. Die Anlage des Hotels ist schön angelegt und von dort hat man einen tollen Blick auf die Stadt. Das Frühstück war super, frisch zubereitet und sehr individuell. Die Stadt ist zu Fuß gut zu erreichen. Es geht steil runter und natürlich auch wieder rauf.

Gut zentral gelegenes Hotel in Gehdistanz zur Altstadt
Pros:

Die Lage ist sehr gut und das Zentrum (Altstadt in 15 Min.) gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Auch verfügt das Hotel über eine Parkgarage im Untergeschoss, was für Funchal keine Selbstverständlichkeit ist. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und konnte uns eine Menge Tipps geben. Wir haben das Frühstück im hoteleigenen Garten mit Sicht auf Funchal stets sehr genossen.

Cons:

Innenräume des Haupthauses schon ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen. Die Zimmer im Neubau sind sehr gut.

Rustige en comfortabele plek in Funchal
Pros:

Mooie groene rustige locatie. Uitgebreid ontbijt. Ruimr kamer met balkon in de oude villa. Parkeren ideaal onder het nieuwe deel. Vriendelijke staff.

Cons:

Ligstoelen op het balkon zouden wel comfortabel geweest zijn.

Bij het ontbijt zouden lokale producten beter passen bij een hotel als dit, dan voorverpakte kuipjes jam en in zakjes voorverpakte olijfolie etc.

Hotel is past its glory time and needs update and the mangement just trying to squeeze out a maximum without facilitatin

Cons:

Dirty linen on the bed when arrival, no towels, ants in the room, wear and tear of the floors, walls, tv and dirty chairs from excessive use. The place just really needs an update and thorough cleaning. No iron or ironboard in the room and provided when requested because it’s out of their policy. And lastly there are 12 parking spots (of which 3 are used by the staff) for 18 rooms so I made a reservation because I am pregnant and 2 times at arrival our spot (and all others) were taken (apparently by a staff member). This is absolutely not a 4 star hotel and you can get better value for your money.
