While Velvet Hotel does it's best to minimize noise disruption, due to it's location in Manchester’s Gay Village, some external noise is unavoidable during busier periods (including Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings). The hotel reception can provide ear plugs on request.
Village Brasserie is currently closed for refurbishment works. The hotel reception can provide alternative restaurant recommendations. Velvet Bar remains open for drinks only.

Great location, in the middle of Canal Street, super lively and insane room quality. Clean and well taken care of.
It’s just not a 10/10 because staff could be better trained, my room was at the 4th floor and the main lift was broken (totally understandable) so I had to use the service lift which would only go until the 3rd floor. Staff asked me to use it but the way to go to the room was through the 2nd floor. Was lost for about 5 minutes without knowing where to go with luggage until I read the info on the lift. Not a dealbreaker, but it’s the little details of attention that can make the difference.
Room and location was great!
I was not expecting delivery of breakfast in the room, which has no proper table to eat on. Would have preferred dining room experience for this price.
The location was good, close to the city and everywhere you need.
When we got to the hotel it was not what we expected. The room we booked included a table and chairs but when we got there it was much smaller than expected and no where to sit. After a closer look there were stains on the bed sheets, on the curtains and it was overall quite dirty. We told reception and they told us we could move rooms, no apologies and didn’t show us where our new room was, we were just expected to find it. We got to the new room and it was slightly cleaner but after a closer look there were stains on the curtains, decorative pillows and ceilings. The staff didn’t ask if our room was better and if we were happy with our new room. There was also a bar next door which had music on very loud until about 4am which made it difficult to sleep.

Room and furniture and furnishings were exceptional.
Lighting was dark. AC and bathroom exhaust were too noisy so much so that having the AC on meant the noise didn’t let me sleep. Continental breakfast was below average
The room is very spacious. Bed was comfortable and shower is great.
The room facing the canal is pretty noisy. We were out most of the night and even at after 2am it was still pretty noisy so if you’re a light sleeper definitely ask for rooms not facing the canal. But we kinda knew that when we booked.
However, it’s quite noisy inside too. Pipes make strange noise and we could hear floor creaking from people above us.

There is no locked door leading to the rooms - anyone can walk off the street and straight to the rooms

Firstly on my check it’s all done on tablet and had to wait a fair while due to check in process been long winded. The lift to the rooms was very smelly / damp smell. The room fair size. Staff was robotic not much personality. Staff knocking on door while I was getting ready and just walking in to question me on check out. I was informed it was 12pm check out on check in. Then when checking out I was told 11am. You must have id and for any guest also pre pay £100 deposit or won’t be able to check in.
Massive bed and so comfy not slept that well in ages
