Beautiful views and quiet location!
Pros:

This is a very cute boutique hotel located in a quieter end of Positano but right near the beach. Beautiful view from the balcony and very nice breakfast (huge yummy croissants/cornetti). Very clean and nice people there. Would definitely stay there again!

Memorable stay
Pros:

This was easily one of the best holidays we have ever had because the historic Palazzo Marzoli was such an amazing place to stay! The staff were perfectly splendid!!! We would love to return next year.
We got the room we booked with a wonderful terrace which came complete with a gorgeous breath taking sea view. The room was larger and more spacious than it looked in the photos with a King sized bed with plenty of space around it and a good sized day bed and Pouf with a window in front of the bed also with a sea view & tall french windows leading onto the terrace.
The bathroom was very spacious with traditional tiles.
I don't understand the other less than complimentary reviews. Every one was absolutely lovely and we were made to feel ' so at home'.

Special mention for Mr.Antonio Brancati and his lovely wife and lovely daughter at reception who were so very sweet and helpful: nothing was too much trouble.
Everything was very clean and spotless, our room & bathroom were cleaned daily, with clean towels etc.
We had a little safe to put our valuables in, mini fridge, kettle, tea, coffee etc; all the expected amenities which you don't always find in continental hotels.
Also very comfortable bed with a great mattress!
Also the Sita Sud bus needed to get around most of the coastal towns, stops a 1 minute walk around from the hotel. There is a mom & pop grocery store 1-2 minutes' walk from the hotel and bars and restaurants, not to mention the hotel's own restaurant. Breakfast on the hotel 's magnificent terrace was a very memorable experience.

The whole town is a walkable picture postcard! Sure there are steps everywhere but we loved that we got a free workout on a holiday and what a picturesque one at that. No one wonder these people are so fit! We saw 80+ year olds carrying shopping bags walking up!
We also felt very safe here because it is a close knit community and people are just lovely and helpful. Such a delightful small town villagey feel which is heartwarming.

Antonio and his wife and daughter at Palazzo Marzoli will always inhabit that special place in our hearts forever reserved for Positano and the glorious Amalfi coast !

Gem of Positano
Pros:

The stay here was preceded by some rather unflattering reviews about this hotel but it would not take long to dispel such inequities. Firstly, having been to Rome, Florence, Venice and now the Amalfi coast, I can genuinely say it was the first time I felt comfortably safe in Italy here in Positano. The town folks are very nice and form a close knit community and most places are mom and pop shops. The room was spotless. It had a high ceiling, an air conditioner, a TV, a mini bar fridge and balcony with a glorious view of the Tyrrhenian sea. There is a grocer for the requisite local citrus, a small pasticeria, a pizza place, two bus stops and even a police post all within 2 minutes walk. The concierge young lady spoke good to English (It is presumptuous that we English speakers think that all foreign languages are English spoken slowly and loudly) I came prepared with Google Translate pre-loaded with Italian but did not need it. It is within easy travelling distance of the other towns and close to the sea side. We were made to feel very welcome and at home. Antonio in particular was always there to help with anything and was a constant cheerful presence. We would love to come back. I can give no higher praise than that!! Thank you very much for a memorable peaceful holiday.

Pros:

The staff/ owner was very attentive and kind to us. We enjoyed the view and having breakfast brought to our room each day. The only suggestion would bento have more water pressure for the 3 rd floor. Shower was a trickle. Beautiful place!

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Pros:

This was the disaster part of my trip to the Amalfi Coast.

I was scheduled to stay at this Hotel for 2 nights. I was really looking forward to it especially after having had a look at the website. That's as good as it got for my stay.

Upon arrival I was informed that I was being upgraded to their sister Hotel, La Caravella, on the beachfront, where I would have access to to the Hotel's private beach.

Access to La Carvella is after hiking downhill for about 25 minutes with your luggage to the beachfront. Finding this Hotel was nigh on impossible as it was not signed and entrance was to the side next to a bar. no porter service so the luggage had to be carried to the first floor.

Alarm bells started ringing as outside my room was situated a kitchenette. Other guests used this at all the hours of the day/night so not great for having a good night's sleep.

Inside the room, instead of having a view of the sea and Positano for the hilltop, I had a view of a brick wall. The bathroom was very basic and the shower did not function. In room facilities did not exist.

Despite emails going back forth with the main Hotel, it became apparent that I was being fobbed off.

The next day I climbed to the main Hotel and spoke to the owner/manager and was informed that original had issues with the bathroom and so could not be occupied. I informed him that that was the case with my existing room! I then complained about the view and was informed that I had access to the private beach. Private beach was on the wrong side of the promenade that separated it from the main beach area. By this time I was losing it as the previous day I had been informed of having an upgrade. Absolutely no way.

Little did the manager know that I had met several guests attending a wedding and they had paid over the going rate and had taken over the hotel pretty much to attend the wedding. So, I knew the manager was lying from word go.

Following my return, the hotel now refutes my claim that I was transferred La Caravella, despite several emails having been exchanged between us.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE WEBSITE APPEARS!!!

This hotel ranks as my worst ever in my travels and that includes bush camps on safari.

Would not recommend
Pros:

When we arrived no one at the front desk spoke English, therefore communicating was impossible. Requested twin beds and did not get our room changed for three days. Very little ac in our room. Yes, the view was spectular, howver 90% of Positano have beautiful views. Breakfast was sparse. This hotel, unbeknost to us, was not walking distance to the "Square" or beach. Hotel will give you one free shuttle per day, return Taxi is $40!... would not recommend this hotel...

I wouldn't go back to this hotel
Pros:

My stay at Palacio Marzolli in Positano unfortunately did not meet my expectations. On the very first day, I was informed of a €80 daily parking fee, even though it was not high season (my visit was in September). After speaking with the owner, the rate was adjusted to €60 per day, but it is worth noting that nearby parking facilities charge around €50 per day.

The breakfast was also disappointing. It is served in the room and very simple — one egg, a coffee with milk, and a croissant. Any additional items come at an extra cost, such as an omelet (€10) or a portion of fruit (€10–15).

Regarding the amenities, I missed some basic standards. No liquid soap was provided, only old-fashioned round bar soaps, which made the experience less comfortable.

I also experienced an inconvenience with a personal belonging. I left a sweater in the room and, when I returned to ask about it, I was informed that it had not been found.

I booked at the last minute and did not read the reviews beforehand, but I can say that the experience was not satisfactory. I believe that improvements in fee transparency, breakfast quality, and attention to amenities could make the stay more enjoyable.

Pros:

The attention in general is good but the parking of the car they charged me 80 euros per day and they had told me that it was between 40 and 50 euros. Outside in the parking spaces they charge 40 euros per day
Breakfast is nothing special, very simple: coffee, eggs and bread, if you want something extra they charge you

Awful for ever , disgusting experience!
Pros:

Extremely disappointing experience.
This hotel feels very cheap and poorly managed. The staff — seemingly family members — do not speak even a single word of English, which makes communication with international guests extremely difficult. For a place that hosts tourists every day, this is simply unacceptable.

The property itself is very disorganized. The bathroom and shower were filthy, outdated, and clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. In the room, we found coffee mugs that had been broken and glued back together — when we poured coffee, it leaked through the cracks. This is the height of negligence and irresponsibility for a hotel.

The bedsheets were old and worn out, and most of the hotel furniture was in very poor condition. Breakfast was basic at best, with very small portions, stingy service (even asking for an extra coffee felt like too much), and hardly any eggs provided.

Overall, I would not rate this place even 1 out of 10. Sadly, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

Pros:

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed, cared for, and surrounded by beauty. Positano is breathtaking, but this property and its staff made it even more unforgettable.

The hotel is stunning. Every detail feels thoughtful and authentic. The views are picture perfect and the atmosphere is serene and elegant. We booked the suite and I completely recommend it. It was spacious, luxurious, and offered sweeping views that felt like waking up inside a dream. The balcony alone was worth every penny.

What made the stay truly special was the incredible front desk staff. They were the kindest and most attentive people I have ever met in my travels. From offering local recommendations, to assisting with transportation, to greeting us with genuine warmth every time we walked through the door, they made us feel not like guests but like family.

Every touch mattered, from smooth check in to thoughtful housekeeping. The staff’s pride in their work and love for their city shined through.

We left not only relaxed and grateful but also deeply moved by the kindness we received. This was the best hotel experience we have ever had. I will recommend it to anyone traveling to the Amalfi Coast and I am already dreaming of the day we can return.

Do not stay here! I repeat do not stay here! This place charged me for minibar items I had not used. The beds are hard as a rock. I thought I was Fred Flintstone sleeping on the mattress. The management also doesn't know one thing about running a business

Not what it seems
Pros:

Just note that Positano is expensive -- expect to pay a lot more than any of the other cities around -- Sorrento, Amalfi, etc. Location was higher up the mountain than others so it was bit cheaper.
The pictures do not match the property. It's an "ok" property -- everything is very old and the beds are like old bedsprings. I'm picky about bathrooms and shower had mold all around the edges which tells me that they do not "detail" clean. Sheets were very rough and very low thread count. IF you drive, they will charge you $100 euro to park -- if you use them as a taxi, it's $35-40 euro each way... so take the bus or get a taxi... IF you can find one. Stairs are good but be ready because there is a lot.
Overall - staff was not very accommodating... somewhat annoyed. I just believe they know they can get away with anything since it's very limited there. My recommendation is to stay in Sorrento and do a day trip here..... just easier getting around. I do not recommend this property at all in my opinion.

Bait-and-Switch
Pros:

Through Booking.com*, I booked an eight-night stay at Palazzo Marzoli charme Resort located in Positano, Italy, beginning June 17, 2025.

When I arrived at the hotel, I was told I could not stay at the hotel, and that they had arranged an "upgrade" at a different hotel.

I was confused and tired from travelling, so I accepted. Upon arriving at the alternative "residence hotel," (not a full-service hotel), I was very disappointed. It was a downgrade.

I returned to the Palazzo Marzoli hotel late afternoon of the 17th. I asked for a discount. My request was refused. I asked again to stay at the Palazzo Marzoli. I was refused.

On the morning of the 18th, I checked out of the hotel. I asked for a refund. My request was refused.

I filed a dispute with my credit card company and was granted a full refund.

* Although I used Booking.com's website to book the reservation, Booking.com, unknown to me, directed my transaction to a third party. Booking.com was of no help in resolving this matter. At the time of writing this review, I discovered Booking.com did not post this trip for my review. I'll never use them again.

Avoid at all costs
Pros:

This would have to be the worst travel experience of my life. After arriving at the port I called the Hotel to ask for a transfer which had been promised days before when I had called. I was told to call when I arrived. The rude owner told me to walk to a nearby hotel so I did that, no transfer to be seen. I had to call a further five times and be yelled at by him and wait another hour before he sent somebody to collect us. It was sweltering heat. We arrived into a dodgy looking garage then walked into a reception with three men standing behind a desk there was a very bad feeling in the room. They spoke very little English and were very rude and intimidating in their nature towards us. When we’re asking questions they were laughing at us and speaking in their own language quite clearly trying to make us feeling uncomfortable and intimidated. I would not feel safe staying there at all as a female if they were looking at my children, very strangely . . It was sweltering heat. We arrived into a dodgy looking garage then walked into a reception with three men standing behind a desk there was a very bad feeling in the room. They spoke very little English and were very rude and intimidating in their nature towards us. It was myself and my two children three females. I instantly had the feeling I had to get out of here. This was not a safe space. I asked for water and was told there’s water in your room. I asked where the pool was. he barked at me that there was no pool. It is advertised as a 15 minute walk to the beach more like an hour. There is no way I would stay here he offered no assistance to get a taxi or find out where our bags were. It was a very distressing start to our day. Positano I thank goodness we found a beautiful hotel not too far away and had a wonderful time in the end. Avoid at all costs.

Pros:

It’s not worth what I paid. This place is way high up in positano. Hot water was just like Luke warm more like cold. Shower size is very tiny. Bed is uncomfortable and loose. Same breakfast every day in the room. No other option. Very limited choice. Very disappointing. I am sorry but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. No lobby at all.

Pros:

My reservation was for an ocean view room at the resort. However, we were put up in a completely different building, La Caravella Residence. La Caravella is a very old and outdated apartment building. While it is directly across from the beach, it does not feel or look like a resort. The room we were put in wreaked of cigarette smoke and had a view of beach umbrellas. I called the resort office about the difference in locations and to complain about the smell (supposed to be nonsmoking) and the man ended up hanging up on me. I was frustrated and reached out to Expedia and also wrote a Google review, which led to the property manager contacting me to explain that my original room at the resort had a bathroom plumbing problem that couldn’t be addressed, so I was moved. He then gave me an option for a different room on the second floor at La Caravella, which we took as it had a better view and didn’t smell like smoke. Manager should’ve been honest from the beginning. Very rude man. All in all the location is perfect, but the facilities are very outdated and would benefit from some investment - especially new mattresses, pillows, and towels.
