We stayed at RipJack Inn in Playa Grande in November 2024, and while our trip coincided with some of the worst flooding the region has seen in over 20 years, the experience left a lasting impression for all the right reasons.

Due to severe flooding, Liberia Airport was shut down and even a sinkhole developed, delaying our return home for several days. Despite the uncertainty, the staff at RipJack Inn were absolutely incredible. They were attentive, communicative, and genuinely cared about the well-being of their guests during a very stressful time.

We ultimately decided to cut our stay short and make the difficult journey to San José in hopes of finding a way home, despite warnings about road closures and hazardous travel conditions. Manager Nubia Dominguez was incredibly understanding, helping us prepare for the trip and ensuring we felt as comfortable as possible with our decision.

Thanks to the team, what could have been an overwhelming situation was made much more manageable. Their hospitality truly stood out.

Once home, we started planning a return trip to Guanacaste so our whole family can fully experience the beauty of the area and the amazing people we met.

Highly recommend RipJack Inn—not just for the location, but for the exceptional staff who go above and beyond when it matters most.

We also want to take a moment to recognize Nubia for her outstanding kindness and professionalism. When we returned in February 2026, she welcomed us with a warm smile and immediately made us feel relaxed. That level of genuine hospitality is rare and truly appreciated.

RipJack Inn continues to impress on every level—great location, a fantastic restaurant, and exceptional management.

I tried to give the restaurant several chances but the food is very over priced and not very good or fresh. First night we came we sat at the bar for 35 minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there- the food made me sick and I was up throwing up the first night I was here. We decided to give it another chance and it was poor service again. We ordered two ice coffees that sat at the bar for 25 mins before being brought to us and were melted and half watered down by the time they came to the table. I do understand being busy but if you are going to charge a certain price the service to amount to that as well. I would not recommend eating here if you stay in playa grande- unless you want to spend half your day waiting in the restaurant to order, eat and pay.

Alicia was an amazing server she treated us so well. She was so funny and kind. Would recommend to everyone I know!

Amazing proximity to the beach, comfortable mattresses which is important I feel to mention in reviews. Grounds were amazingly kept by staff. All around amazing experience! Will definitely return. Thank you!

The location was good, a bit hard to find when arriving in the dark. I was only checked in for a overnight sleep and didn't have time to explore.

We had dinner here with the family, top notch service & food! Would 10/10 recommend going back, the only sports bar in town!

Excellent service, beautiful environment, very relaxing, restaurant service excellent with reserves but Alicia was our best server with great service and attention. Food choices excellently presented and delicious.
