Parking
Hotel is a great location. M lounge has a great variety of food and is a great space. Room was spacious. Front desk check in staff were friendly and inviting. Status was acknowledged. Hotel is very clean and the staff here is kind.
My wife and I stayed for two nights. First of all, check-in is no easy task. There is no large Marriott sign letting you know where the hotel is located. You’re driving along a city road, (in the dark), and if you blink, you’ll miss the tiny corner entrance, (which we did). Parking is equally poor. Once you check in, you must drive around the block to the parking garage. Don’t ask them to bundle parking with your room charge as their thermal printer is of such poor quality, the parking garage scanner can’t read the barcode. I was blocking traffic while attempting to get the scanner to read the QR code ticket I received at check in, but it wouldn’t read. I ended up taking a ticket at the booth just so others could enter the garage and subsequently paying the hotel and garage. My wife and I brought two cars and therefore had to pay for four nights of parking.
The rooms are marginal at best. The TVs are so old, you lose half the movie if it’s a widescreen format. When it comes to the beds, it appears as though the Marriott is unable to find fitted sheets that actually fit the bed. Each night my wife and I would wake up and realize we were sleeping on the mattress pad instead of the sheet because the fitted sheet had come loose and had slipped to about mid bed. Attempts to put it back in place were fruitless as it would come loose again within minutes. Pro tip, there are sheets especially made for pillow-top mattresses. Having no idea how often mattress pads are washed, it made us wonder what our faces were laying against all night.
Don’t try to find any outlets or USB charging ports near your bed. There aren’t any. I travel quite a bit and can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that didn’t have a means to charge electronic devices on the nightstand. Overall, not a great experience.
The convenience to city destinations was ideal for walking. The restaurant Plough was magnificent.
The noise at night with a bar outside our room on the rooftop next door and raving cars and motorcycles. Also chiming of a bell tower. The comfort of the bed was ruined by noise. Did not like the long trip to the parking garage multiple times a day.
Pros: Chloe! This girl rocks! Give this girl a job in management. Front desk employees - great. Overall the staff here is amazing.
Cons: We stayed in the East Tower for reference. We had a corner suite that overlooked Tellus360 … on a Saturday night. Unless you intend to be up until at least 3am forget about it. Being in a glass box on the 7th floor every motorcycle and car playing loud music reverberates in the room for 15-30 seconds and sounds like it is in the room with you. It was obnoxious and accosting. Then at around 1:30 am it sounded like a riot was going on … and when we looked out the window there were at least (this is not an exaggeration) 100 people milling around the street (cops were called and on the street as well). By 2:30 the streets were cleared and noise settled down. This was especially disappointing because of the exorbitant expense of that room, which they call a suite. There were other issues but I found them less offensive… such as not being able to close and open black out curtains properly.
I feel like most people get a hotel room for the purpose to sleep, shower and rest. We got very little sleep & rest here.
Side note: the restaurant Plough was very enjoyable. The food was fresh and light.
I only stayed here one night, but I really enjoyed the quiet and comfort of my room. The lobby is spacious and there is a bar, a Starbucks, and a restaurant all awaiting you. The location is very convenient to a host of boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, and bars.
The location was convenient and the check-in process was straightforward. The lobby and common areas appeared well maintained.
Unfortunately, the room itself was very disappointing. The bathroom was not as clean, the wallpaper was peeling in several areas, and the thermostat did not work properly, making it difficult to keep the room comfortable. Overall, the room felt dated and poorly maintained, especially for a Marriott property.
The staff are super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for us. You really do not need to use your car.
Nothing of note
I stayed here last night on my way home from a trip. The hotel is very nice and clean and the staff is johnny on the spot to help. The parking garage is attached but a block away and they directed me to it along with a card with directions. The location is right downtown and there are lots of shops and places to eat nearby. It has a high end restaurant called Plough and a Starbucks place as well. There are two towers with one being west and the other east. I had a room on the18th floor in the west tower and had a nice view of the square. Everything was nice and clean and I got a good night's rest. I mentioned your wallet in the title and this is because the rate I got was over $450 for one basic room. I am sure they can do this because there likely is no competition downtown. I like the stay however and will now save up my pennies so I can travel again soon.
The staff was courageous and well informed about the surroundings and very helpful with checking in. I would definitely recommend this location to all my friends and family who are traveling to the Lancaster area.
Nothing. Everything was spectacular
We recently checked in the The Marriott @Penn Square - for my daughters dance competition and I couldn’t be more disappointed. I have a very serious health situation what gets activated a result of an exposure to mold of which I am extremely allergic . After discovering the mold I immediately went to the front desk. The immediately informed me the entire property was sold out and she asked me the best time to send the cleaning staff . I told what time would be best - based on my daughter’s dance schedule and she immediately said the cleaning staff wouldn’t be available at that time . I informed her we paid $500.00 per night ….we were checked in a room that shouldn’t have been available.. I was displaced and had to shower in a friends room and her reply was -NEVER apologizing was …what do you want ? In my profession I always highly recommend Marriott properties because of the quality of service and great customer service care .. to say this property truly disappointed me is an understatement. A sad - disappointed- but loyal Marriott customer!
