What I did like about the stay was the location and how easy the hotel was to find, especially after a very long drive. The breakfast was also good and definitely appreciated before getting back on the road. Staff was pleasant and the overall stay itself was comfortable.
Overall the hotel itself was fine, but the parking process after a long day of travel was extremely frustrating. After driving 12 hours and arriving late at night, the last thing I wanted to do was stand there scanning a QR code and entering all of my information online just to park. It honestly made check-in feel more stressful than welcoming.
I also don’t understand why parking wouldn’t simply be included with the room or at the very least charged directly to the room during check in. Having to deal with a separate QR code system after such a long drive felt unnecessary and inconvenient. The whole process was more of a headache than it needed to be.
Angel was very helpful, as were other staff. The room was very clean and breakfast was wonderful.
Unfortunately, our room faced the highway which made it a noisy night. I also don’t understand why we have to pay for parking…..
Absolutely nothing
My room was canceled at last min
The only reason I am not giving this place 1 star is because they did have a good breakfast with a wide variety of selections. Here is what it really is like: The heating/cooling system is falling apart and the fan remained on constantly blowing warm air from outside. It was 76 degrees in the room. When I reported it to the desk clerk that it did not work even after I turned the wall thermostat to 65 degrees, she said she would look at it. We went to supper and when we returned all she had done was set the thermostat to 56 degrees. Of course it did nothing, The fan ran all night, regardless what we tried, and it was noisy. Traffic also was noisy most of the night.
There was no notice on the Web site when we reserved that we had to pay for parking. There is notice at the door when you arrive, however, and you must use your cell phone if you have one to pay for it. (This country MUST stop believing we all carry cell phones).
The toilet was so low it might as well have been non-existent. There also was only luke-warm water, both the night we arrived and the next morning.
There were no USB ports and WiFi speed was the usual ultra-low for the Hilton chain.
Couldn’t hook up my PlayStation but other than that everything was good
I had a truly disappointing experience during my recent stay.
There were ants around the head of the bed and the side table, so I requested service. However, the staff only sprayed insecticide once or twice and left. During that time, I also noticed that there were only two tissues left in the box, arranged neatly to look full, but there were no extra tissues provided. That felt misleading and unprofessional.
At breakfast, another issue occurred. While my child was making a waffle and added a bit of chocolate, a staff member told her that it could damage the machine. My child apologized and said she wouldn’t do it, but the staff member continued repeating that it was “okay this time, but don’t do it again,” bringing it up multiple times, which made the situation uncomfortable.
Meanwhile, the same staff member was chatting casually with other guests. When I noticed the milk was empty, I asked her for more. She said “okay,” but then just stood there looking at me without taking any action. Even when another guest pointed out that I seemed to need assistance, she continued chatting and did not bring the milk.
When I expressed my frustration to my husband, the staff member asked my child if I was talking about her—but still made no effort to resolve the situation.
Additionally, the towels had yellow stains, and the bathroom lights were flickering.
Overall, this was one of the worst experiences I have had, and I am very disappointed with the level of service and cleanliness.
Breakfast was just ok.
No hot water. Room phone was broken, staff didn’t appear particularly apologetic. Staff slamming large door early in the morning.
See above.
Exactamente
On most of our trips, we stay over night in Richmond after landing, because the flights usually get back so late, and we live 1-1/2 hours from the airport. Usually we stay at one of the hotels right by the airport. On this trip, we decided to try something different, and chose this Hampton about 20 minutes away from the airport. Wrong choice. We checked in about 1am, and headed straight for the room. It was a room with 2 queens. The mattress on one bed I would rate as bad, because of how soft it was. The other mattress was worse and was broken down so badly that my wife just kind of sank into the middle of it. One thing I wasn't aware of, but learned on this night...there is a lot of traffic on Commerce Road late at night, and you're going to hear it all. The room seemed to be pretty clean....until I saw and killed a cockroach in the tub area during a middle of the night bathroom break. Breakfast was okay. This won't be on our list of hotels for future trips out of RIC.
The food was cold.
