The Giacomo Niagara Falls NY, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Our complimentary breakfast was just okay. They use powdered eggs and very thin bacon. We would not have paid the $16.00 for it had it not been complimentary.
There was a full kitchen but the dishwasher did not work. There were no paper towels or napkins, only kleenex.

Breakfast not included after confirmation that it was included in rate.

Accueil déplorable, service exécrable. Beaucoup d'expressions de dédain voire de mépris de la part du personnel.
J'avais demandé une chambre calme, ils avaient dit "no problem" et nous ont mis en face des 2 ascenseurs, soit la chambre la plus bruyante de l'hotel. J'ai refusé, ils nous ont déclassé dans une chambre délabrée pour le même prix que la chambre de luxe que j'avais payée. Ils ont dit que c'était Booking qui avait répondu à ma demande, pas eux... Menteurs !
Ni accueillants, ni aimables, ni serviables dans un hôtel sale qui tombe en ruine.

Very tired, dreary decor in need of upgrade. Other reviews have referenced the excellent “hot breakfast” - our experience was very different. The food was cold and unappealing. The server was friendly and helpful.
On leaving, we were told we were “all set” - I asked for the total cost of our stay and realised we were being hugely overcharged. On investigation, we had been charged twice for our tour of the falls (which was outstanding) so our check was almost $400 too much. The bill was adjusted - no apology from the lady on reception, just a shrug of the shoulders. Not even a “thanks for visiting”when we left.

Sink didn’t drain well, TV also didn’t work.

Check-in. We arrived early and asked if our rooms were ready. Told check-in is at 4pm. We came back at 2:30 and asked again — most hotels will let you in early when the room is ready. Same flat answer: "Check-in is at four." Not "they're not ready yet," no explanation, nothing. They did offer to hold our bags, but there's no luggage room — they just leave them in the dining area. The front desk showed no interest in us whatsoever. The policy is their right; the delivery was rude and unwelcoming.

The room. Dust on every shelf and table. The desk chair had peeling, flaking upholstery. Streaks and residue in the shower. Stains on the duvet. Stains across the carpet. The room had simply not been cleaned.

The lounge. There's a top-floor lounge with panoramic views, which sounds like a highlight. It isn't. It's an empty room with a few sofas — no bar, no water, no staff, nobody there at all. And the windows are filthy: the exterior glass is covered in cobwebs with what looks like a hundred spiders living on it. It's disgusting to look at, and for anyone with arachnophobia it would be unbearable.

The food kitchen, dinning room and around the hotel in general could be cleaner and needs a little maintenance/attention.

There was a leak in the restroom in 602, visible on the ceiling of the restroom in 502(we had those two rooms)

When I approached the staff to ask for towels because our room had not been cleaned, she seemed annoyed to be asked. The room is in need of a refresh. The paint on the ceiling was peeling. The photos showed bathrobes and whirlpool tubs in the room, but the room had neither of these. The room was one of the smallest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The breakfast was not good. The turkey bacon and sausage from the buffet on separate days of our stay was cold.
