Pros:

Ons verblijf in Novotel Phuket Kata Avista had zowel plus- als minpunten.

Het hotel ligt boven op een steile heuvel. Als je naar rechts gaat van het hotel vind je drie gezellige tentjes waar je iets kunt drinken terwijl je geniet van een adembenemend uitzicht – absoluut een aanrader.

De lobby, het restaurant en het zwembad zien er goed uit en zijn prettig om te verblijven. Helaas geldt dat niet voor de kamers en het hotel zelf, die duidelijk verouderd zijn met hoge luchtvochtigheid.

Bij aankomst kregen we een upgrade, maar de kamer viel erg tegen. De vloer was nat, de spiegels en ramen waren vochtig en er hing een sterke schimmellucht. Ondanks dat het personeel meerdere keren heeft geprobeerd het probleem op te lossen, bleef de geur aanwezig. Daarom hebben we gevraagd om een andere kamer. We kregen uiteindelijk de oorspronkelijk geboekte kamer, maar daar bleek de slaapbank veel te klein voor onze twee dochters. Na een paar keer vragen kregen we gelukkig een extra bed. De airco moet altijd tussen 20 en 23 graden blijven anders wordt alles vochtig, dit geldt voor de gehele hotel, ‘s nachts is dat erg koud.

Het personeel verdient echt een compliment. Iedereen was vriendelijk, behulpzaam en deed zijn best om te helpen. De hoge luchtvochtigheid in het hotel blijft echter een nadeel en draagt waarschijnlijk ook bij aan de vochtproblemen in de kamers.

Daarnaast wordt er momenteel verbouwd, zowel in het hotel als aan de overkant van de straat. In de kamers hadden we daar geen last van, maar bij het zwembad was het bouwgeluid wel hoorbaar.

Al met al is dit een hotel met een mooie ligging, een fijn zwembad en uitstekend personeel. Toch vonden wij dat de verouderde kamers en de vocht- en schimmelproblemen een grote impact hadden op ons verblijf.

Such a shame.
Cons:

We just checked out. Everything was okay until the cleaning lady saw us to take 2 bottles of water in the hall. She tol us not to take them. We said it’s for drink and walked to reception. That lady called the reception lady like we steal the bottles. And reception lady warned us not to take the bottles. Even water is free for every customer. It is such a rude thing to call on us. It is just 2 bottles of water. Never make the hotel rich or poor with 2 bottles of water.
