Room was small but the heated bathroom floor was heaven!!Front desk was very helpful!!!
Upon arrival to the hotel we found out that we were upgraded to the King suite (instead of King) room, without an explicit reason (maybe as we were staying longer), staff were always ready to help, bring in needed facilities, etc. Location was also very good for us to reach main attractions. Air conditioner worked well (was quite important for us). We didn't use hotel's restaurant as we found a nearby one we really liked and also had some food in the room (the little kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and coffee/tea making facilities was quite useful too).
The location was convenient, and while the initial room assigned to us had a poor view (directly facing a wall despite requesting "a view and quiet"), staff did offer an alternative — a second-floor room with a view, albeit facing the noisy street. Earplugs were provided for the noise. We'd also read previous reviews mentioning homeless people in the vicinity; this was true, but we didn't feel unsafe at any point.
We were originally told we could only have a view or quiet, not both, and ended up compromising with a noisier street-facing room. More concerning, on the second morning we found what appeared to be a bed bug on the bed. We reported it immediately to the front desk, but the response felt fairly casual. Management followed up by email the next day saying no evidence of bugs was found in the room, despite the photo we'd sent — no compensation or gesture of goodwill was offered. Understandably, the bug incident left us too unsettled to enjoy the breakfast fruit and coffee offered in reception for the rest of our stay.
Given these issues, the stay didn't feel like it matched the price point.
Great hotel. Clean rooms and facilities and highly accessible to downtown Victoria's shops and restaurants. It ranks high among the best hotels we've stayed in all our travels. What made it special for us was the friendly and accomodating hotel staff. In particular we enjoyed enteracting with Arlene, Jinny and Sangay. My wife and I will definitely look them up again.
Great location, comfortable bed, heated floors in the bathroom, quiet (rarely heard room neighbors, doors opening and closing or talking in the hallway), nice size mini fridge and microwave.
Maybe a little expensive but on par with similar hotels in the area.
Lovely little hotel. Great location - we were able to walk to most places, restaurants we wanted to go to. We really enjoyed our stay and would 100% come again.
Cute independent hotel easy to access by bus from Swartz Bay. The lobby had some lovely flower arrangements and fresh whole fruit and tea/coffee in the morning.
The room and bathroom were both nice and clean, and they provided premium consumables (cookies, San Pelegrino sodas, and L'Occitane soap).
20 min walk to James Bay where Fairmont Empress, government seat and main harbor are. On a Saturday, we were also able to visit a delightful farmer's market about a 25-30 min walk away.
Very comfortable beds!!
One of the nights we were there, there was some kind of public concert going on until maybe 11:30 pm, and we could hear the music which was..a bit screamo. I think this is probably not usually a problem, but if you happen to overlap with an event like that, good to be aware that downtown noise might be audible
I love this Hotel! The rooms are lovely and the staff are all so friendly and helpful.
I didn’t like that I had to come home
The lady at reception was quite rude about the fact that I did not have a credit card. Even after I explained that credit cards are not commonly used in Denmark, she insisted that “everyone has one.” We had both Visa and Mastercard debit cards, and our one-night stay had already been paid online.
Instead of placing a temporary hold on the security deposit, she charged my card CAD 300 and told me the money would be refunded immediately after checkout once the room had been inspected. We checked out early the following morning, but no one inspected the room at that time. The refund was processed two days later, and because of the exchange rate, I received approximately DKK 100 less than I had originally paid.
The financial loss was not the main issue—it was the attitude and lack of flexibility. I understand that using a credit card is standard practice in Canada, but Victoria is a popular tourist destination with many European visitors, where debit cards are widely used. A more understanding and accommodating approach would have made for a much better guest experience.
Location
Parking was a distance away and very expensive. Rooms were dirty, with holes and soft spots in the floor. Elevator was filthy.
Front desk staff was super friendly and helpful.
