Our stay at the Mayfield Hotel Seoul was impacted by several issues, mainly related to communication and clarity of services.
Some facilities (like the sauna) were not included without clear prior information. Access to the hotel from public transport was also unclear, leading us to enter through the car entrance, which felt unsafe. In the room, the bathtub was not practical to use.
We also experienced difficulties with staff communication. As first-time guests in a five-star hotel, we expressed that we were unfamiliar with certain procedures, but did not always receive clear guidance and sometimes felt uncomfortable or judged.
Ordering food via phone was particularly frustrating, with language barriers and interrupted calls preventing us from successfully ordering. Similarly, information about the airport shuttle was unclear, and we had to search online ourselves.
There were also inconsistencies regarding amenities: although a fridge was provided, outside food restrictions made it unusable for personal items, and we received no clear answer about using the in-room washing machine. The laundry service process also felt inconvenient.
Overall, we felt that the lack of clear explanations made the experience difficult, especially for guests not familiar with this type of hotel.
