Lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful property.
Pros:

Beautiful building with quirky historical features including an old bell board previously used for room service. Comfortable room and large shower area.

Cons:

Quite a few stairs but was told about that beforehand.

Excellent Hotel, Great Location.
Pros:

Great location for exploring, super comfy room with great little extras. Spotlessly clean, breakfast was excellent!

Cons:

Parking was an issue...I would recommend the park and ride or we used the Mayors Avenue car park(1 min walk to hotel) ....it just means that you have to keep extending your stay in an app as there is a max of 4 hrs until you hit the 6pm slot where you can book until 8am and then extend it. It's the same for other Hotels in Dartmouth...the hotel itself is excellent and we loved Dartmouth...a really lovely place to visit.

100% reccomend. Would stay again.
Pros:

We loved all the extra touches from the diffusers in the room to complimentary beer. The room was very clean and the whole hotel was really special to stay in. Staff were really helpful calling us when we left something in our room also. Breakfast was also fantastic

Cons:

The decor was fantastic! Location amazing

The Royal Castle Hotel is a very good hotel on a superb location. You cannot get more central in Dartmouth!
Pros:

Primarily location as you could not be more central in Dartmouth. We also loved the character of the property, an old see side pub / hotel that has a great vibe. I would also add the recent refurbishments has made a great difference.
Our room was superb, very clean and a blend of old quaintness with some modern fittings, quality towels, bathroom soaps / shower toiletries and bed linens.
We had a room in the roof of the hotel which afforded us superb views over the town and valley. The hotel did provide an excellent powerful fan to keep the room temperature more than acceptable as our stay coincided with the heat wave. We thought a very considerate approach by the hotel.
We would also compliment the breakfast as many options from buffet or from a menu offered, food quality good and great service.
Overall our stay at the Royal Castle exceeded expectations on many fronts and we will be back!

Cons:

Nothing to note. Daily car parking can be a bit of a challenge in Dartmouth and is not the hotels issue. But just be aware in high season that you might have to use the Park and Ride to the top of town.

Lovely hotel to stay in. Recommend 100%
Pros:

Lovely hotel and centre location.
Hotel very clean, breakfast was excellent and good variety.
Staff very friendly.
Free park and ride a bonus and takes the worries about parking away.
Would recommend.
The cosy room is great and has plenty of room..
Free coffees, teas and biscuits good.
It was my partner birthday so they gave her some prosecco, a lovely touch

Cons:

We had the cosy room which was so hot in this heatwave as its south facing and the windows only open a little which is understandable on a higher floor.
The Dyson fan couldn't cool the room down.
In normal weather it wouldn't be an issue at all.

Historisches Haus, sehr unterschiedlich e Zimmer
Pros:

Charming hotel with spectacular views.
Pros:

Charming hotel in a superb location. The views from our spacious bedroom across the ‘boat float “, the estuary to Kingswear beyond were spectacular.

Cons:

We arrived during a heatwave and the smart Dyson fan couldn’t really keep the room cool.
Having to park the car so far away was inevitable given its harbour front position but was a bit of a pain.
Despite these small niggles we had a lovely stay and would be very happy to return.

Nice room, friendly helpful staff, but not suitable for those with mobility problems
Pros:

Room was fine, location excellent

Cons:

No lift!!! I am recently recovering from a fractured leg, and my room was on the top floor, so it was quite a challenge to manage the stairs. I was also very concerned about the safety of the bannisters. I realise that it is an old building and not up to meeting the needs of people with mobility problems. Hopefully, my leg will be better by the time I visit next.

Beautiful building, beautiful views
Pros:

We stayed in a room overlooking the little marina, it was a beautiful view and right in the middle of Dartmouth. The room was big, beautifully decorated and clean. It was extremely hot and whilst that made it a bit stuffy we were give a fan/unit to keep the temperature down, so we were very comfortable. Staff were great and working in that heat must have been difficult. Breakfast was lovely too , will stay again as soon as possible

Cons:

No better location in Dartmouth!
Pros:

The perfect Dartmouth location and the view from our lovely room was over the boat float to the river, and Kingswear beyond. Gorgeous!
Bedroom very nicely decorated and a VERY comfortable bed. Dark and quiet overnight and the air conditioning was a major bonus. Modern, clean bathroom.
Delicious breakfast choice (except the bacon which was overcooked with the texture of dry leather!)
The extensive renovations of the hotel have kept the character and are very much in keeping with the age of it.
We enjoyed our stay very much. We’ve stayed before and will stay again, though a lot of what made the hotel special has been lost, the warmth and friendliness of the staff being the most obvious change.

Cons:

There were 65 stairs to our room, which made popping in and out if required during the day a bit of a pain!
Two complimentary cans of lager in the fridge which was very nice for my husband, but no complimentary drink for me. Everything else except biscuits, tea and coffee had to be paid for. A complimentary small individual bottle of wine would have been nice.
The bathroom ceiling sloped sharply as the room was on the 4th floor in the eaves. My husband couldn’t stand while using the toilet as he was too tall at his average height, and we both hurt our heads on the extractor fan above the sink.
Nowhere to put toilet bags in the bathroom other than on the floor, easily remedied given the size of the bathroom.
No drawers at all in the bedroom or bathroom, except a tiny thin one in the bedside tables.
The hotel is still a great place to stay but it now feels like just another hotel in a chain, with a lot of the little touches gone, e.g., no tissues, biscuits not replenished. It felt a little overpriced, and not the special treat as it has felt on previous stays.
