Nice and old
Extremely dated.
Shabby untidy not at all wecoming
It was the perfect location and very friendly. It was good value for money.
A very warm welcome. We loved the building which has recently been renovated. Picturesque. Beautiful location.
We stayed as a family of four this weekend and found the chequers Inn Hotel a lovely place to stay.
Chequers Inn is also a pub, the building dates back to the 1400’s and is very rustic looking, warm and inviting. Fabio the owner was very friendly, he has recently taken over the family business from his father and is working hard at improving both the pub and hotel, this is a work in progress and is looking promising. His sister Steph was also very friendly and informative about the local area.
The room was basic but very clean and perfect for somewhere to get your head down. There was a TV and hairdryer in the room and toiletries in the bathroom. They don’t serve food but there are plenty of restaurants or takeaway options locally and Fabio is happy for you to eat them in the pub.
The locals were all really friendly, in just 2 nights we felt like we’d known them years! We will definitely return.
It was a lovely place, will return
Kettle in room did not seem to work and there were no teabags or milks. That could have been better.
Friendly owner historical building
Dated rooms, no room service whilst we were there, beds not made towels not changed
The medication is excellent. The atmosphere on arrival was very friendly. The room was clean and functional hospitality was excellent and I’d recommend the checkers to anybody.
The 14th century coaching and was very authentic charming as I said the staff were very friendly. The rooms are in a new block Bill on the back so he had the best of both worlds with the old World he and they’re more functional modern living area.
Very friendly host and locals and lovely bar!
Looks like they’re in the middle of a renovation, but didn’t take away from our stay
Clean and good location
Room was clean & tidy & the four poster bed was very comfortable indeed,,
Not much. Parking is a bit of a bun fight. Traffic can get a little noisy at times but is bearable.
Lovely stay Many thanks
Lovely old building and friendly staff and locals. Warm fire and cosy. Under renovations so it’s in transition
Bit dated and bland in the bedroom. No pictures etc
Nothing
From when we first pulled up outside the property it looked Poorly maintained from the start at this point my partner said please say we aren’t staying hear I convinced her to give it the benefit of the doubt and we proceeded in to the reception area which was extremely dark and dingy and smelt like an antique shop
It was like a cross between the London dungeons / a panic room /the adamams family’s house
Then we was walked to our room it was clear the hotels needs updating the carpets look like the original ones and needing a good clean hallways walls was grubby and in need of a fresh lick of paint
Then there’s the room well pretty much the same old dated bathroom everything looked like it was out of a museum
The bed room was just as bad old rickety furniture dated carpets a mirror had been removed from the room from one of the walls and the brackets was still screwed to the wall which then highlighted the last time it was painted as they went around it
We quickly left to attend a party and on the way to the destination decided the 2 hour 20 minnets drive home was more appealing than staying so I returned collected our belongings and dropped the keys back to reception in all a complete waste of money a ruined first night without kids for 16 years and a long unwanted drive home late at night
Open fire. Retro bathroom. Four poster bed
The pub is very charming, located in the heart of Forest Row with good amenities nearby. The room was a good size, and the staff were very polite.
The room itself was very basic and dated - could really do with a freshen up. Cups/spoons in room were dirty. No one told us how to check out and there were no staff around in the morning so we weren't sure what to do.
