Unique building, perfect location, friendly staff and a warm atmosphere!
Pros:

We were a sports club group from Cumbria who needed to be in the local area the next day's national finals. The location was perfect as it was less than 10 minutes away. Even a bus stop outside the door from East Grinsted station! From our arrival, the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help us after our long journey by train and bus. The bar was lively and welcoming and even had a dancing space with a DJ on the Saturday night - none of which could be heard from any of our rooms. Having read some of the previous reviews we didn't have our expectations too high - but everything exceeded them. We can see refurbishments are underway, and would definitely be back if in the local area. The Jazz and Java Cafe next door was amazing for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bonus - we won the competition the next day!

Cons:

Nothing - just keep on with your refurbishment plans.

Good enough - location was key for me.
Pros:

Location worked well for me, and the staff were engaging, happy and engaging. Warm open fire was certainly good when I walked in from outside.

Cons:

Room was not made up (bed not made, no towels) which was quickly dealt with and they were genuinely apologetic.

Quaint place under new ownership
Pros:

Quaint 15th century pub with impressive Inglewood fireplace worth a visit.
There was a Salsa night when visited.
Accommodation dated but clean, comfortable & ok.
Breakfast can get discount with cafe next door.
New owner very friendly and helpful said was gradually upgrading place.

Cons:

Currently no pub food on site.
(Swan Inn nearby food wasn’t good - we had different burgers)

Pros:

Its old. Roomy a double bed each in our room. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Renovations kept us from having meals there.but thats the only thing.

The staff are very friendly and you get made welcome, I would recommend Chequers Inn Hotel to anyone
Cons:

The only one thing I can fault with the hotel is that they don't do food so you have to go else where for your breakfast.

Pros:

We ended up here after our flight was cancelled at Gatwick. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful and did a great job ensuring that all the guests who appeared last minute due to cancelled flights were looked after well.

Coud be a real gem but needs a lot of money spending on the place.
Pros:

The owner was helpful. The room was adequate for the price. The position was excellent

Cons:

Abysmal bathroom. Place run on a shoestring. Had to leave via the fire excape as the door to the lobby was locked when i wanted to leave. Was unaware that breakfast was included but would not have wanted to stay for this anyway

Oh dear!
Pros:

The owner was friendly and helpful

Cons:

There was no food available (not known in advance). The bar still had last night's dirty glasses on it when we checked in. There was toilet paper in my en suite toilet, a hair in the bed and stains on the sheet. A fire door was propped open with a fire extinguisher, in the morning. It didn't feel clean or safe and we had to go out to eat.

We got there by bike for a one-night stay. The perfect spot after a good day’s ride! Highly recommend
Pros:

The warmth of the inn, its location, the kind and friendly staff, the Pimm’s and lemonade, the fact we could stay on the terrace playing cards late and bring our own food

Really disappointed and at £105 for the night absolutely terrible value for money.

Cons:

No towels in room.
No bin in room.
No remote control in room.
Awful view of wall.
Not clean - hairs on tiles.
Shower too low (by about 2 feet).
Everything dated.
