Lovely old building and friendly staff and locals. Warm fire and cosy. Under renovations so it’s in transition
Bit dated and bland in the bedroom. No pictures etc
Nothing
From when we first pulled up outside the property it looked Poorly maintained from the start at this point my partner said please say we aren’t staying hear I convinced her to give it the benefit of the doubt and we proceeded in to the reception area which was extremely dark and dingy and smelt like an antique shop
It was like a cross between the London dungeons / a panic room /the adamams family’s house
Then we was walked to our room it was clear the hotels needs updating the carpets look like the original ones and needing a good clean hallways walls was grubby and in need of a fresh lick of paint
Then there’s the room well pretty much the same old dated bathroom everything looked like it was out of a museum
The bed room was just as bad old rickety furniture dated carpets a mirror had been removed from the room from one of the walls and the brackets was still screwed to the wall which then highlighted the last time it was painted as they went around it
We quickly left to attend a party and on the way to the destination decided the 2 hour 20 minnets drive home was more appealing than staying so I returned collected our belongings and dropped the keys back to reception in all a complete waste of money a ruined first night without kids for 16 years and a long unwanted drive home late at night
The pub is very charming, located in the heart of Forest Row with good amenities nearby. The room was a good size, and the staff were very polite.
The room itself was very basic and dated - could really do with a freshen up. Cups/spoons in room were dirty. No one told us how to check out and there were no staff around in the morning so we weren't sure what to do.
Open fire. Retro bathroom. Four poster bed
A quaint, historical building right in the middle of pretty Forest Row.
There were no towels and no toilet roll in my room. Staff disturbed me by knocking on the door at 10.30pm after a mix up with the booking. There was poor communication about how to check out. The room did not seem to be properly refreshed.
Central location.

Clean room (and upgraded to a four poster bed)

Im just writing this review as I’m fairly shocked at my stay from the 9th to 10th of August, £75 a night while cheap and budget. I expect much more of a hygienic experience. Number 1 when I booked my stay it said that there was a dining area nice and lit up. Walk in dark and dingy, ask when dinners are till, the kitchen isn’t functioning, okay that’s fine. Next walk into the room, the shower that is directly next to my room was leaking sewege and reeking of human waste. Not to mention stained and sticky carpet. The state of the shower was ungodly absolutely horrible. No hand soap in the rooms, no bin, tv doesn’t work at all which is obviously part of the price. What if my partner needed a bin to put female sanitary products somewhere, what would she do? Sling it out the window?? And the fire exit door which is right next to my room had been propped open with a fire extinguisher all night which in my opinion is very very unsafe, ANYONE could walk in!!! I really don’t like writing this as the girls working were so lovely and helpful I wouldn’t want this falling on them but the establishment is flawed. And to top it off, check out is at 10 am left promptly, doors are locked can’t drop my keys off anywhere no one to take them, so some lovely man who was exiting same time as us offered to wait with our keys to drop them off when someone does decide to turn up as we were in a rush. So over all not very good, I am not usually like this but am expecting compensation for this in form of a refund.
Room had a hair dryer. Rear access to separate the pub.
Room wasn’t ready upon arrival at 4:30pm furniture very dated, musty smell, bathroom had original decor from 80’s shower was below head height. Bed sheets were torn in one corner.
