Revado Hotel, Norwich City Centre

bar wasn't open all weekend

No welcome shouted at through ring doorbell at check in.
Room was shabby- curtains had large rip in it.
Bathroom ceiling was peeling
Toilet seat wonky and damaged
Bathroom skirting boards were damaged and peeling. Bin in bathroom was full of rust
Bathroom was dirty and shabby skirting, floor, mould in shower
Lighting in room was awful- damaged upside-down lampshade of main light- full of dust and a seemingly 40 watt bulb not powerful enough for size of room and no side lamps
Breakfast- absolutly awful no staff in attendance had to go and locate a chambermaid to get her to get help (she was lovely) 'continental breakfast' was offered- everything seemed to be empty when we arrived so we asked for help. What was filled up was- dome cheap biscuit packs (like you get on a compliment tray in the room) and the cheapest sliced loaf of bread. And some bananas
No pastries
No selection of fresh fruit
No cheese or ham (noted this was vegetarian but doesnt mean guests would be- and cheeses could be offered)
No yogurt
Milk for tea was finally located in a teapot.
There was however vegan milk substitute in the fridge.
The other diners at breakfast also seemed to complain and received a cooked veggie breakfast
We were not offered anything
When I queried this after having to find someone in the kitchen I was rudely told I could have something I was given some hash browns beans and some chopped tomato!!
The other table recieved this and a selection platter of Indian snacks (from what I could see- they certainly got more than we did)
I was fully prepared and would have been happy with continental but cheap sliced bread and biscuits is not a continental breakfast
Area outside/view from room- cant be helped but looked rough and ready on opening ripped curtains in the morning I saw a resident from tbe hotel leave and go and search for discarded cigarette butt's outside which he smoked before entering back in the hotel...(he could be resident or staff?

We arrived early and there was no one on reception. We wanted to leave luggage until we could check in, but could not.
No lift, no offer of help to carry bags upstairs
Decor generally very tired
Painting could do with refresh
Towel rail broken
Light switch falling off wall
Window didn’t close properly, was awkward when it was cold
Curtains were worn
TV - could not get this working
Breakfast was very average, no hot offering

This is the most 2 star 4 star hotel I've visited.
There is only free parking in the evening. No free parking is available during the day unless you move your car to the other side of the road then back again for the evening. Useless if your going to be out for the day or returning late.
Booked breakfast through booking.com. Got told by a staff member (who turned up to work at 8:30 rather than 08:00 when breakfast starts) breakfast wasn't included and would have to pay extra if we wanted anything more than a bit of toast.
The rooms themselves were fine for a short stay but mine had a broken shower head, very low water pressure from the tap on the sink and a toilet that takes approximately 45mins to refill for the next flush. The bedroom window was damp, the kettle leaked water and had a lot of limescale inside and the TV could only tune to BBC1 and a music channel showing music from the 1970s.
The walls are very thin so we could hear the neighbors every footstep and could hear the plumbing when the neighbor had water running too. The doors to the room slam if you don't control the close. Its enough to wake the whole hotel.
Would not stay again.

However, it didn't make up for the fact that certain things were not up to basic standard: no bedside light (or switch) - I had to ask a LOT for this and finally got it late at night; the shower head had no hook so needed to be handheld, as well as having no indication of temperate adjustments; I was on the ground floor next to the street but didn't have adequate blackout for privacy (it was difficult to make the single curtain do the job comfortably); the breakfast was incredibly disappointing. I read before booking that they had vegan breakfasts, but it turned out this was only on request, which no one mentioned until I arrived for breakfast in the morning. I am sorry I am so negative, but I expected better.

Continental breakfast very poor with little choice. Staff not readily available to assist.

Light bulbs in shower room probably need replacing. Seemed a bit dim and flickering.
Very low ceilings on the top floor.
Full English breakfast was more like an Indian twist so not really accurate.

Should be aware no on street parking during the day and night limited but £9 a day parking in lower Clarence road.

Breakfast was disappointing and had a narrow window (8am-10am). Room was fine for a short stay but there was a noticeably big dip in the bed.
