Satisfactory, but not posh (at all).
Pros:

Could open window fully. Easy, super short walk to High Street.

Cons:

Tucked away in loft, a pokey room, slanted ceiling (didn't know this - might have been OK if reflected in price). Shower was a new electric but instructions were needed as we just gave up (and didn't use) after lengthy efforts.

Pros:

Full English breakfast was good. The room itself was clean. Staff were helpful

Cons:

The mattress was terrible, very hard, springs sticking out.

Couldn't shower properly due to the roof being too low to stand up while showering. Not a good room for people over 5ft 5

Great stay, great staff, but air conditioning/better fans would’ve improved our stay.
Pros:

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and staff were helpful and friendly. Sue in the breakfast room was particularly helpful and served breakfast with a smile.
It had parking at the back
Great position for exploring the New Forest. We would stay again.

Cons:

It was particularly hot during our stay and two fans were provided - we had also brought our own. We were in the top room with a dog and it was still very hot especially the dog. Not sure that dogs should be this far up in the building, if I had an older dog she wouldn’t be able to climb the steep stairs. Also maybe worth investing in air conditioning due to how hot they say summers are becoming in the future for at least these rooms.

Lovely New Forest stay in clean and friendly hotel
Pros:

Breakfast was excellent and staff were very friendly. The hotel is exceptionally clean and tidy. The room was spacious. It’s a fantastic location from which to explore Lyndhurst with many nice restaurants and shops a very short walk away.

Cons:

Our room was on the top floor and it did get very warm as it was quite hot. This meant having the windows open and there is quite a lot of traffic going past the road by the hotel so it was a bit noisy. There is not much that the staff could do about this but it’s something to be aware of when booking.

Super friendly staff, clean, comfy rooms, fab breakfast great location for Lyndhurst & the New Forest
Pros:

The location is perfect - an easy walk into the town.
The breakfast was superb, great quality and sufficient. Rooms are super clean - good quality bedding & comfy bed.
Best of all is the staff; every one of them polite, friendly and caring - so refreshing to experience such excellent customer service. We’ll definitely stay here again.
We brought our dog and the staff treated her like a princess - even her own sausage at breakfast - such a lovely gesture!
Loved the Penny Farthing!

Cons:

The room at the front was a bit noisy due to road traffic which is no fault of the hotel. We shut the window at night and turned on the two efficient fans supplied either side of the bed to keep cool & for air circulation so the road traffic noise wasn’t really a problem. We assumed the hotel was full so we didn’t ask to move rooms.

Excellent overnight stop. Just be careful if you are mobility impaired.
Pros:

Very good buffet breakfast with nearly everything you might desire.

Cons:

Since it is an old building the stairs are steep and lots of steps around the rooms.

Great location, but dated.
Pros:

The staff we met were very nice and helpful.
The breakfast was very good.
The location was perfect for what we wanted.
The room was clean.

Cons:

We were in the Penny Farthing room.
Access to our room was quite awkward, even with small travel cases, narrow, steep, curving staircase with a heavy door at the bottom and top, with the top door opening directly onto our room door.
The bed in our room was so uncomfortable that between us we managed probably an hours sleep all night. It seemed to have a mound in the middle and we both felt like we were sliding off it, it was far too soft and lumpy. I would suggest getting a new mattress.
The road noise from outside also kept us awake, meaning we could not open the windows, and the one solitary fan did not do anything apart from move hot air around.
The shower was just a dribble and my wife only just managed to wash her hair let alone be able to have a proper shower.
The TV remote did not work properly and the battery cover was missing from the back with just a piece of insulation tape used to cover the batteries.
