Not a particularly pleasant stay with the exception of staff
Pros:

A beautiful building, set in beautiful grounds
The staff we met were friendly and helpful . Especially JJ.

Cons:

Very tired decor , carpets seen better days and room really needs an update .
Gardens had obviously looked amazing at one time , but were shabby and outdoor furniture rusted and dirty . The lawns really needed a mow and flower beds a good weed. Maybe the gardener off sick .
Shower curtain dirty in bathroom and did not like the two plastic glasses which whilst wrapped were presented on the toilet cistern . Not very hygienic .
Carpet really needs replacing as threadbare and patched in places .

Lovely country hotel
Pros:

Size and loungroom and gardens.

Cons:

Restaurant only opened some days and there was no information about when. We went without because the house is remote.

Do not pay for the breakfast you will be lucky to get a piece of toast, or grey undercooked cold
Pros:

Nothing

Cons:

The breakfast was the worst we had ever encountered, had to ask for bread for toast, a couple of pots of yoghurt had to ask 3 times for coffee pot to be filled up, other guests wandering around trying to look for the 1 staff member who was missing in the kitchen to ask for coffee, milk bread and juice to be filled up, hot plate with no food only 4 items being cooked at a time so I you blinked and other residents got to the hotplate the food was gone had to ask for sausages, bacon, hashbrowns to be replenished again only 4 at a time and this was with at least a dozen residents wandering around looking and asking for food and drinks lie orange juice to be refilled, had to ask the cleaning lady to go and find the 1 member of staff on several occasions to say no food on hotplate no coffee and no bread

Pros:

The room was clean and warm, with a charming view. The outdoor building is very beautiful and the garden is well-maintained. Breakfast was good.

Cons:

We were not informed that there was no cook in the restaurant that day and had to go back out (we were on foot and the hotel is 40 min walk from the town centre). Would suggest calling the hotel if you are planning to dine there.

The mattress was old and we could feel the springs on our blacks.
