Lovely location and staff, comfortable room, bathroom. Easy parking arrangement.
Restaurant was closed and spa facilities pending upcoming renovation work.
Clean and comfortable spacious room. Lovely to have tea/coffee and welcome snack upon arrival.
Friendly helpful reception staff.
Shame the restaurant and spa were not available ( but did know this when booked) but lots of great eating options a walking distance away.
Lovely old fashioned hotel with big bedrooms (ours was anyway!). Great location and good parking.
Very small television in the room
Very old fashioned, wiring looked dodgy, extremely dated
Breakfast was good - served by excellent staff.
Except one day when the stove broke down. The L shaped garden layout and fountain was lovely and made the entire space peaceful, calm and complete.
You need air conditioning and you need a three meal restaurant. Also, a bar of soap in the rooms would be nice in addition to the gels
staff was great. a comodations were very nice.
the “spa” was closed during my stay. i had been looking forward to taking advantage of the spa so i was a little dissapointed about that.
Location Walking distance of town centre,
Nice bathroom soaps and lotion,
Biscuits and coffee
No air conditioning, and only 1 fan to keep the top floor room at all cool
The garden suite that we stayed in was fabulous. There was everything we needed for our stay and the bed was very comfortable. A small fridge and milk provided for making tea always goes down well.
The breakfast was average. I know the hotel are going to refurbish and hopefully the breakfast and dining area will improve.
Very peaceful stay beautiful gardens very secluded great room staff super
Only down side was no restaurant for lunch and dinner but drinks could be ordered and brought to you in the garden or room
The location is excellent. The character of the building and gardens was lovely. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to help us. There is plenty of parking to the rear of the hotel.
It's not really a 5 star experience at this hotel, the absence of air conditioning was really noticeable in the upper rooms with heat trapped and not enough ventilation. We were moved to a ground floor room which was slightly better. The breakfast service was very slow and was very poor on one particular morning.
Location great. Close to the town. Amazing room. Garden room with outside space. Would definitely recommend.
Breakfast was good but waited 40minutes + for it to arrive. Maybe a few more staff needed. Also we weren’t offered more tea and coffee whilst waiting. Pastry selection was very limited. Croissants only.
The Georgian ambiance with its gracious appearance and decor. Breakfast was well served and pleasing as was the dining room with its nice garden views and spaciousness. The lounge was comfortable and the garden pleasing.
Having booked a Garden Room it was disconcerting to find ourselves shown into a Heritage Double Large Suite with an ornate screened bath and windows that opened onto the road. This was changed at my insistence to a Suite with a Garden View but the booking error lies with Booking.com who were not assiduous in securing the actual room paid for. The hotel was 'under-managed' - sprinkler on during daylight hours covering the exact same square meter of garden for two days running whilst birds were clearly distressed in the garden owing to a near empty and extremely dirty water feature. The absence of staff on the premises overnight raises both security and safeguarding questions and the hotel felt 'run down'.
Great hotel with very nice gardens.
restaurant not open for dinner, no bar and no air conditioning in room.
Nice location, quiet despite being centrally located. Pleasant garden and billiards room. Room spacious and clean, comfortable king bed
Glimpsed reading ‘breakfast’ when booking.com but only realised it wasn’t included upon arrival. One feels almost like a second class citizen, simply trying to avoid eating animal corpses/mammal milk, when they order a vegan breakfast but are told frostily that they only have a ‘veggie’ breakfast, and that they’ll need to check whether the sausages are vegan friendly. This sort of basic information really should be known by the staff, and would expect so for a ‘luxury’ hotel. No non-animal pastries, which are usually available at high end hotels. Continental selection lacking - drab and sparce. Waited for some time to find out if I were able to have a decent breakfast served. Woken at 1am by a very loud couple walking around and loudly talking upstairs - not the hoteliers fault, but disappointing none the less.
The hotel is completely outdated and a serious rip off. The carpets and fabrics in the bedrooms and common areas smell. The mattress is totally worn. It is outrageous that we spent £245 a night on such a bad hotel. The staff are very friendly which is the only positive.
I didn’t like anything
Beautiful hotel, we had a garden room. They thought about every detail. Helpful staff. Accommodating to our 18 month child’s needs. V comfy sleep with black out blinds and perfect shower.
Nothing
Fantastic place to stay. Great location and wonderful staff. Will definitely return.
