Ideally situated and with free parking, it was comfortable and clean and meals were good.
Was initially booked into room 4, but the toilet was very noisy when other rooms flushed their toilets and when they did sewer gasses leaked into my bathroom. But the staff put me in into room 18 and that was much better. Not sure if all toilets in the hotel are connected to the hot water system, but room 18 is.
The staff were lovely and friendly. Food in restaurant was tasty and good value and arrived at our table quickly
The room was stifling hot. We could only open the windows a tiny bit so when we put the fan on it just circulated the hot air. We were on the ground floor so even if the windows opened more we wouldnt have been able to sleep with them open. I had to wet a towel and try to sleep with it over me to cool myself down.
The bathtub was extremely slippery. There is a sign to say it is and we could have a non slip bathmat if we asked reception. Why not just give us one when we checked in? 3 of us were booked in to a 3 person room however only 2 towels were in the room...what the????
Location was perfect for everything
Ideal location for Abbey and other interesting places.
The water was so hot I had to run the tap a long time to get a cold drink. Considering the drought this was a waste of water. My room was near a fire door and staircase ( room 24) which meant noise as people came and went.
However they changed my room which was very satisfactory.
The shower was good
The noise from the room above us. A chair we couldn't sit on in case we fell through it. The torn duvet covers. The spiders and webs. Bumpy pillows.
Close to Abbey
Bathroom blind broken. Sink taps leaked
Breakfast perfectly fine for our needs as we only wanted cereals and toast but the other options sounded very good .Room and bathroom old fashioned but clean
Mattress was a bit saggy.Chair rather than stool would have made the bedroom more comfortable
The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was lovely with a great menu and large selection of fruit and cereals.
The smoked salmon for breakfast was poor quality. The bedroom floor was very creaky but this can be excused as the hotel is very old!
Location.
Nothing.
