Staff very good excellent experience with dog friendly place

The ambience

Good location. Lovely old building

Close to town centre

Centuries old authentic hotel in centre of town with creaky and slightly uneven floorboards in corridors, but rooms totally modernised with good t.v. and WiFi. Friendly staff, good restaurant and bar and an excellent breakfast. Large adjoining car park with free parking for guests. Large screen t.v. in bar showing world cup football on my stay. Good bathroom and shower. The second time that I have stayed and would choose again.

On arrival we were very pleased to find a large car park, with plenty of parking available, we were greeted by James, whom was very informative, friendly and efficient, we didn’t go straight to the room as we wanted to visit the Oliver Cromwell museum before it closed, so we didn’t go into our room until a few hours later. Room 20, a large bedroom with a bathroom with a shower over the bath, it was lovely, in fact on checking out I had to ask if it was a normal double or had we secretly been upgraded to a superior, a normal double! It had everything we need, my only niggle was only 2 milks but that was easily remedied by just asking for more, so pretty much a perfect room. We had dinner at the hotel, no need to book, very accommodating, friendly staff and lovely food. Husband had the prawns for starter then fish and chips and I had the squid and then steak, all cooked to perfection. We do have a blue light card so our meal with 3 drinks came to £57, which was, in our opinion, extremely reasonable. I think it was Debbie whom was serving that night, as I say, so friendly.
A very comfy bed for a good night sleep and then breakfast, which was a help yourself continental and then a breakfast menu to chose from, if you had chosen the full breakfast, all made to order and again, amazing, and then after eating all that they have fresh danish/croissants that must have come from a bakery and not just out of a packet as they were huge and looked fabulous (and tasted mighty fine). On checking out we were greeted by Marion, and she said it was fine to continue parking whilst we had a quick wander around the town, and recommended historical places to visit before we left, which we did to my husbands enjoyment, he does love history.
We had a wonderful spur of the moment visit, and if you have spent time reading to this point and still can’t decide whether to stay… do it, if you like old, interesting buildings, that serve great food, with people that are happy in their job.. this is definitely one place to stay.

A hotel which was very good value for money, centrally located in Huntingdon. Massive free car park at the back. Room was fine for the price, clean, bed comfy, had a kettle and coffee so was nice to make a hot drink in the morning. Staff very polite who checked us in and out.

Our stay included dinner and breakfast, both of which were excellent and made the overall cost of the one night stay for a meeting good value and made us happy to overlook the tired decor in the corridors and en suite. The hotel is very conveniently situated for local amenities and motorways. 24 hours of free parking for residents was also useful. Staff were lovely and doing their best in the extreme heat, we struggled with the heat overnight, but a fan was provided.
