Rothley Court Hotel by Greene King Inns

The room (which I paid extra for to access from 12 noon) was a very small double that was the furthest it possibly could be from the main hotel, with single glazing and a noisy main road. The bathroom was very dated with incorrectly aligned mucky taps, cracked and dirty tiling/screens and mouldy looking windows. Noise from water system when other rooms were using bathrooms. Tried to add photos but couldn't. Additionally we left behind our wash bag with electric toothbrushes, Thierry perfume and other items and I tried on several occasions to contact the hotel about this by leaving telephone messages and messages via Booking.com but even though we had a second visit (another funeral) this has never been recovered or resolved.

In the double room the bed base was broken on one side resulting on a misalignment of the two base parts. The lampshades at the side of the bed were not fixed so they were wonky. The carpets were ill-fitting in both rooms. The decor of the hallways and communal areas in the annexe were all in serious need of updating as there were badly painted areas, dirty hand rails, wood chip wall coverings and exploding and peeling plaster. - Oh and I accidentally went upstairs in the main hotel (looking for toilets) and the handrails were really sticky! Still didn't find out about our lost items from previous visit!!!

The room was very dated could do with a refurb and good clean, the room and bathroom was quite prison like and dark and inclosed

Room was quite small. Bed small double , we are used to a super king ! Could do with updating .

Nothing really. We had a room in the annex which was a bit dated but comfortable. No air conditioning but we did have a fan which was perfect for us. Beautiful evening but very little shade outside. Has a great south facing garden but could do with a bit of an upgrade with more shade, not just umbrellas which aren't big enough to provide the tables with adequate shade. There is a lovely stream at the bottom - think they could make more of this and the space.

The food! We were at Rothley Court hotel for a wedding, the bride and groom chose to have a barbecue which consisted of pork and paprika 'foot-long' sausages, burgers, potato salad, coleslaw, sweet potato and corn on the cob. The bread rolls for the foot-long and the burgers were stale and burgers themselves were tasteless. The potato salad was adequate, the coleslaw was tart, the sweet potato was edible and the corn on the cob was dry. Were I to hazard a guess, I would say nothing was made by a chef, but simply cooked from frozen and scooped from plastic tubs. The 'barbecue' food was carried out from the kitchen and barely touched the barbecues that were outside! There was no vegetarian options readily available, they had to ask for an alternative and wait while it was cooked. The food was supposed to be served at 3pm, it was over 30 minutes late. The leftovers (of which there were plenty) were moved inside and placed on a low 'windowsill' - the sausages were left uncovered and the naked flame under the bain-marie left unattended while there were young children at the wedding both unhygienic and dangerous! We did not partake in breakfast but were told that it too was not pleasant.

Food was terrible, room was awful and overpriced (the bed was comfortable though so that made up for the shoddy room)
Staff were miserable.

A great location within walking distance to Rothley Village. Very relaxing place with plenty of outdoor seating.
