Disappointing. Hotel a real mixture of lovely room but other parts tired and poor.
Pros:

The room was lovely, very welcoming and clean.

Cons:

Not a great bar to sit in after dinner, not much seating and extremely noisy. Breakfast was dreadful. We went down at 9am, very little if anything. Asked about bacon and egg and a few eggs were brought out and a few rashers of bacon, all which instantly went. No water to make tea, had to ask for that to be filled up. As we left there were loads of eggs and bacon but too late as everyone was leaving!

Traditional Scottish gem
Pros:

Beautiful old hotel with charming traditional rooms, filled with tartan tweek and characterful furnishings. A busy bar and restaurant serving pub style dishes and a plentiful and varied breakfast spread. Friendly, helpful staff.

Een aanrader om te boeken
Pros:

Really great castle to stay in, short walk to the first tee at Royal Dornach, great whiskey room.
Pros:

Great place, excellent staff. Accommodating when there was an issue with booking.com saying we had two beds in our room.

Cons:

People managing the property were excellent.

Overall disappointing
Pros:

Centrally located hotel. The staff at check in/ out and breakfast were very friendly and helpful.

Cons:

We had to wait 30 minutes for a parking space to become available as you only have a very small private car park and street parking was full. The room needed a good clean (cobwebs in many corners). The wifi in the bedroom was poor. The noise from the beer garden until 11pm prevented sleep. The only cooked options at breakfast were bacon and fried eggs. We have stayed in much better places on our holiday in Scotland for half the price, disappointed in our stay.

Enjoyed our stay but thought it was quite expensive for the standard of room we had.
Pros:

Lovely, historic hotel in the beautiful highland town of Dornoch. Cosy bar. Central location for exploring the surrounding area.

Cons:

Service charge was added to the restaurant bill which we weren’t advised of so we left a tip as we would normally do. Ended up tipping over 20% for fairly average service.
Room was fine but rather tired, marks on carpet.

Hotel with nice staff and bar, but needs a complete makeover!
Pros:

The best thing about this hotel is the … (whisky)bar! All the rest like the rooms, restaurant or the beer garden are ‘outdated’. It needs a FULL renovation!
