It was fine, it was very well located for our purpose and good value for money.
Pros:

Breakfast was decent and good value. Room was OK. Didn't have dinner.

Cons:

Bathroom - the sachet of body lotion over the bath was empty. Would have been useful to have had some simple instructions as to how to operate the shower, as I found it difficult. It was also difficult to regulate the temperature of the water - you quite rightly had warning signs about the very hot water (it was, which is good) but I found it difficult to get a good mix in the shower.
The washbasin was cracked.

Love the character, great location l when we stay with family in the area .

The age of the Inn. We’ve stayed there on a few occasions. My son had his wedding there 10 years ago and we’ve stayed when visiting relatives. Our go to place to stay when we are in the area . Never disappointed.

The staff were pleasant and the room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable.

Cons:

Waited over an hour for a dinner. Had to eventually go and ask where it was only to be told it was a trainee chef and they had a backlog. Information that I should have recieved when I ordered. On arrival the fish cakes were over cooked and the poached egg was hard. Not acceptable. The room was awful. No central light just two side lights. Very dismal. No good for applying make up. The furniture was bulky dark and very old. So glad I showered before I arrived as no way would I have stepped into the old badly marked cast iron bath with a plastic curtain. Especially as there was no bath mat. The room also lacked information. We had to go back downstairs to find out the wi fi code. The television didn’t work either. Full English breakfast was reasonable but needed a much sharper knife to cut the sausages and the toast. My friends poached egg was hard. Many guests were complaining about cold coffee. Needless to say I will not be returning.

Prachtig gebouw op een mooie locatie, faciliteiten en service iets minder.

Locatie, gebouw en de sfeer.

Cons:

Waterdruk in de badkamer was onvoldoende om te kunnen douchen, erg jammer. Bij ontbijt hebben we zo lang moeten wachter op de bediening dat we uiteindelijk weggegaan zijn om elders te ontbijten.

Lovely old coaching inn.
Pros:

The staff are exceptional, especially the young gentleman on Reception who also doubled as Restaurant staff.

Cons:

The room was very cosy and well furnished, but was lacking in power outlets. The dressing table mirror is set into a recess with no illumination. In the same recess was a kettle but no power connection for it. Greene King can surely afford to make these modest improvements.

Ok for one night, but maybe a different room would be better for a longer stay.
Pros:

Liked the ease of checking in and out. Could have an evening meal there which was great. Good choice available on the tv.

Cons:

Had to open the windows as the room was warm. There was a skylight so the room (no. 3) was very light from dawn, I had to use an eye mask to sleep. There was an irritating loud noise which happened a number of times between 06.30 and 09.00. Could be the water tank every time someone had a bath/shower? Whatever caused it, it was too loud to sleep through.
