Nice well persented hotel/pub. Food good, staff efficient and helpful. Parking good.
room was hot and noisy
Great view, clean and good location.
Great breakfast!
Lovely receptionist and generally very friendly staff.
Excellent breakfast.
Comfortable bed.
In general, the hotel needs a facelift but it does have character and the beer garden at the front has the most spectacular view across the valley to The Malverns and the Welsh Mountains. Despite being 100% occupied, it didn't feel like it. Seems to have tempered slapping on £'s to cover "Cotswold Inflation" which is rare.
I know it's been hot recently but...reception was like walking into a furnace (no opening windows and no blinds and no aircon) curtains in bedrooms not sufficient to keep the heat out or even the light. No aircon but a fan did help a little.
I have had better value for money but, The Rising Sun is considerably better value than a Cotswold branded shepherds hut in a field that I saw marketed at £290 a night.
Very good not quite a full English as one would expect but plenty of choice
Tea and coffee in the bedroom not stocked up daily
The breakfast room was pleasant but a little hard to find. The food was great and the view also beautiful.
Decor is dated.
Nice hotel location with a good view from the room. Spacious bathroom.
They should really change the shower curtains between each guest. The shower curtains are the disposable type, but it is clear they have been used many times because mine was discolored and molding at the bottom. I also found someone else’s hair in the shower when I arrived. Slow service at the restaurant, and they sometimes forget parts of people’s order or to put the order in at all.
Warm efficient welcome. Supplied a fan. Big towels. Plenty of parking.
Noisy extractor fans from the kitchen but they did go off at 9.30
Amazing views and perfectly located. Staff were brilliant and very friendly.
We were there in extreme heat and fans not really enough to keep rooms cool particularly with young children.
Great location for the racecourse and Cleeve Hill. Big car park. Super views. Comfy bed, great food.
Quite a few steps and stairs to our room, not ideal for disabled guests. Small room but ok.
Beautiful location, externally nice building, internally could be really nice.
In desperate need of ownership who care and management to inspire the staff. Its seriously in need of a cosmetic uplift, and to have enough staff to man ot properly. There was no ine on reception at check in as they were helping out in the bar restuarant area, although these areas were quiet. The staff while courteous all seemed to have a malaise about their duties (lack of inspirational leadership). On check out there was no one at the desk again and no answer on the reception phone despite a sign saying press zero for assistance. While clean the room decor was very dated, the bedding uncomfortable and surprising how much noise transfer was possible from neighbouring room which provided disturbance when the guests next door returned late and awoke early.
This hotel could be a lovely place to stay with a little effort and investment from the ownership and if it had management focused on customer service and team leadership.
Helpful staff, clean and fantastic views
Nothing. Was great
Landschaft, Garten mit Blick auf Sonnenuntergang, Essen
laute Lüftung vorm Fenster
Beautiful location, with lots of trails nearby.
The food was good but the service in the restaurant very slow. Our room was tiny with no view.
Location and views
All a bit tired and shabby
