Pros:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A lovely stay with exceptional staff⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A lovely stay with exceptional staff
After reading some reviews saying that The Wee Waif was tired and outdated, I was a little apprehensive but decided to give it a chance as my son and his friend were going to Reading Festival and it was conveniently nearby.
I’m so glad I did!
There were four of us three adults and my 3-year-old son and we had two rooms next to each other, which was perfect. Our room had a double and a single bed. It was really nice, spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Yes, the hotel could probably do with a bit of updating in places, but honestly, for what we needed, it was absolutely perfect.
My son has additional needs and can find new environments very overwhelming. Unfortunately, he spilt some grapes in his bed and then completely refused to go anywhere near the bed afterwards 😂. The staff genuinely couldn’t have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were incredibly understanding and kind.
We did have an upsetting experience in the restaurant that evening. There were two couples sitting together at the next table enjoying some wine. My son was already overwhelmed being somewhere completely new and was understandably being quite noisy. The people on the table repeatedly looked over at him and made faces, which made me increasingly uncomfortable.
Eventually I asked if there was a problem, and they asked whether my son was always that loud because they couldn’t hear themselves talking. I explained that he is a 3-year-old child with additional needs and that unfortunately I can’t just switch his behaviour off.
I became very upset because, as a parent, situations like this are difficult enough without feeling judged. I ended up unable to eat and took my son back to the room.
What really stood out, though, was how the staff dealt with everything afterwards. They were incredibly kind, apologised for what had happened and made sure we were comfortable.

Served a purpose but wouldn’t stay again.
Pros:

The food was very average but good value for money

Cons:

Very tired looking .. Not much care for the the toilets that had containers under each of the urinals to catch you guessed it 🤬.. The toilet doors were black where people must have had filthy hands and boots when they opened them ..Theres a serious lack of care toward the hotel.

Overnight business trip
Pros:

Proximity to the main road & plenty of parking. Beer garden lovely with plenty of seating

Cons:

Only 2 electric plugs not enough for 2 people charging mobiles & watches. No spare for the fan as the room was very hot. Looks a little tired & needs updating. Tv on the wall would make it more comfortable as tv is currently at eye level bath chipped.

Pros:

Spotlessly clean room and bathroom . Comfy beds. Plenty of parking. Excellent breakfast.

Cons:

It was very hot, and the room had no air conditioning, so a fan would have been nice. Furnishings need a refresh.
