Staff were really good, though there was a wedding on and we didnt get to use the whole venue, the staff were honest and committed to ensuring that we didn't have to wait around too long for anything.
Drinks were a bit pricey, but I understand the costs of running a business.
The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was good
There was a terrible smell of drains in Room 12. It was coming up from the sink - plumbing was not right. The sink must have discharged into the soil stack with no trap to stop the smell
The stairs outside the room were steep and narrow but worse, had not been vacuumed for ages. Full of fluff and grit.
There were vertical blinds which did not cut out the light from outside. There was a light which went on every time someone below went into the hotel front door and fairy lights on until very late/all night.
Great location, off the motorway but can't hear it.
It is need of a clean, visible cobwebs. Cutlery for breakfast was not washed properly. Glasses at the bar again not cleaned properly
There was a lot of litter in the car park too.
Generally would be a ton better if they gave it a lick of paint and a deep clean
Good location
Excellent location, very clean and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Nothing
Location Rural Setting. Excellent room away from the event. Walk in Shower and easy parking in the grounds
Nice Restuarant simple menu.
The rural location
Upon checking in and entering our room, we were immediately met with a strong smell of damp. We were also disappointed to discover that our room was situated directly next to a wedding reception, something the hotel had not informed us about in advance.
Although we had paid extra for what we believed would be a larger room, we found it to be very small and not as expected. The bathroom was in a poor condition, with significant damp around the shower. Every time the shower was used, it leaked across the bathroom floor. I have both photographs and video evidence of these issues.
The room was also unbearably hot, making it impossible to sleep comfortably without opening the window. However, because of our room's location next to the wedding reception, we were kept awake by loud music late into the evening. Having to leave the window open also made us feel uneasy when trying to sleep.
We raised these concerns with hotel staff during our stay, but unfortunately our complaints did not appear to be taken seriously, and no satisfactory solution was offered.
As someone who suffers from asthma, the combination of the damp conditions and excessive heat in the room significantly affected my breathing. Since returning home, I have developed a chest infection and have been prescribed a course of antibiotics.
Overall, we were extremely disappointed with our stay. Given the condition of the room, the disruption caused by the nearby event, and the lack of action taken after our concerns were raised, we do not feel that the standard of accommodation reflected the price we paid.
The breakfast was well cooked and we enjoyed it
It was noisy as there was a wedding on the same day which had a big noisy people enjoying themselves. They were happy which is fine
Room was clean but not serviced. Staff were friendly.
Room was right next to bin and delivery area so each night we were woken at 1 .30 or 3.30 by staff dragging bins outside our room. It was also right behind the kitchen so we had noise from that, and directly below a family room and had constant noise from that.
Clean and staff very friendly.
Great location for our family
Everything comfortable
Nice area, although their grounds looked a little tired. Free car parking. Good size room, good size wardrobe.
Not enough staff. Overpriced bar, with "cocktails" out of cans. Mediocre food. Overpriced breakfast. No residents bar after midnight. No cooling facilities in the rooms, appreciate it's an older building, so Aircon may not be possible but no fans, really? Towels were on the small side.
The room was adequate, the breakfast adequate. The wedding breakfast meal was very good.
The room was an access room, with a wet room bathroom. The sink was too low for an able-bodied tall person, and there was no plug for the sink. The shower floor was potentially slippy, which we were warned about, and so didn’t use that facility. The flooring should have been non-slip and so we didn’t risk using the shower. The breakfast did not provide an adequate way to make tea. The hot water was in a flask and the tea bags were separate. The water would not have been boiling, and so would not have been suitable to make a proper cup of tea. Also, to be charged £20 for early access to the room seemed excessive, especially as the hotel is a wedding venue and we were asked to be ready to join the festivities for 12:00 noon. Some of us travelled a long way to attend the wedding and needed to freshen up before we joined the party. A more sympathetic approach would have been appreciated.
Just a really good place to stay.
Room was fine and very clean.
Means we were in a heat wave would have been helpful if you could have choice for a fan.
