Pros:

Very good breakfast. The lodge had a very nice, cozy and rustic feel. Beds were comfy and nighttime was quiet. Located in a quaint town with very friendly people. Good restaurants within short walking distance and a grocery about a mile away.

Big car park. Staff at reception were lovely

Cons:

Didn't like this hotel. Room was filthy. Hotel is clearly very old and in dire need of refurbishment. It was grubby, dark and mould on curtains & windows. I would recommend finding somewhere else to stay.

For our one nite stay we enjoyed it very much.
Pros:

A very lovely old hotel, with the charm an older building has. Our room was lovely and large with a few floor squeaks, it’s a part of the ambience. Our breakfast was a great mix of cold and a hot buffet.

Cons:

The bathroom in our room needed an update badly, the finish was mostly off the sink and bathtub. And more light in the bathroom was needed.

Needs a radical upgrade
Pros:

The breakfast was lovely, plentiful and constantly refreshed. The bed linen was clean and crisp. The room was warm and cosy with the extra heater on. The staff were lovely.

Cons:

The hotel is tired and needs a complete refresh. The bathroom suites are 80 coloured and showing their age. We had a bidet for show only.and not to be used (so the sign said in it!) Our friends had no power and then no hot water! My husband managed a hot shower but when I went in it was cold! The whole hotel is very much of the 70s and early 80s. Extension cables in the room for plugging things in.
The bar is like a cave and again very 70s and the gates and padlock across the entrance to it during the day isnt the best look. Nor is having the owners sitting at the entrance to the restaurant with their coats etc on during service having coffee. My husband thought they were mannequins!!! .It is very quirky and may appeal to tourists in a strange way but not for us or others we know who were staying for a function nearby. It's a shame as ,as I said, the staff were lovely. Not worth the fee I'm afraid, sorry
