Atmospheric, good food and fabulous pub!
Pros:

The location and history are fantastic. The pub, the friendly walkers and locals. We love this place and visit once a year.

Cons:

Tricky lock to use in the bathroom, got suck. Old hotel with its quirks..

Pros:

It was located near scarfell pike which was our main goal. Linda was very nice. There were bands playing during our stay which we really enjoyed.The breakfast was very nice.

Cons:

The bar staff were very ignorant and rude. The bathroom was tiny . The evening meal wasn't very nice, curry had only 2 pieces of chicken and the chilli was just warm

Legendary old inn in amazing location
Pros:

Amazing old hotel owned by the National Trust and run privately. 300 years of providing food, drink and rest for travellers leaves a unique atmosphere. It means that the facilities show their age and the building has its quirks, but it’s all part of the charm. The location could not be better. Plenty of hot water and comfortable beds, and good value.

Cons:

It was cosy and a little too warm in the bedroom, but I managed to wedge the window open.

Lovely historic hotel in beautiful location
Pros:

Location is great, the historic structure has a lot of nice architectural details, the main sitting room is very cozy and would be fun to experience in fall or winter. The Cumbria way walking path runs right behind the hotel. Breakfast was nice, bed was comfy, bathroom was clean and across the hall.

Cons:

No complaints… visitors/guests must enjoy lodge-like living

Excellent. I love the Old DG and the Langdale Valley ; have visited many, many times since 1972.
Pros:

Location. Historic old pub and hotel. Great walks. Stunning views.

Cons:

Not a dislike but……Service at breakfast on two out of three mornings was slow, due to staff shortages I guess. The third morning was good. And the system for selecting breakfast choices was inefficient- our choice sheet was lost one morning and muddled on another morning, as were several other guests’ lists. A more efficient system would be good - how about a stack of sheets , a pen and a small box on the table near the kitchen door? Guests must take responsibility for completing a sheet anytime the previous day before 11pm, and putting it in the box, chef could pick up all sheets when he/she arrives for work.

The views of mist, mountains shrouded by pouring rain were simply beautiful 😍
Situated in an exceptional location.

Great location for exploring the lakes and then having a comfortable nights sleep to recover
